Both are shot. De La Hoya was possibly more weight drained I guess. DLH didn't have trouble making weight. I don't care about IV marks. Nor do I deny Oscar possibly being very weight drained but seems weird to me that he didn't really seem to have trouble making the weight. Shane seemed to struggle to make the weight more. Shane has looked bad since Cotto, even since Vargas he's not looked the same. Shane's a fighter who depends more on his speed and reflexes, this tend to diminsh quicker with time. He looked bad vs Floyd. Aside from 2 right hands his performance was awful. Shane's never gotten tired that easily.
Don't know. Truth is both lost to the two best fighters of this generation. Two warriors in their thirties fighting the two p4p#1 fighters in the sport (strange to say two, but there are two). It's a lot easier to see how shot someone is by their loss to mediocre comp. But both these guys loss to fighters wiping the floor with champions in their prime.
The huge difference is (i really hope this ends the argument) Mosley was top 3 welterweight in the world whereas DLH hadn't fought at welter in nearly 10 yrs before taking on Pac. Roach stated that he saw a decline in DLH before the fight with Pac whereas Shane had come off a very impressive win against Margo and there was no real sign of him going downhill. Also consider Floyd had only fought one guy in 2.5 yrs, compared to Shane's 1.5 year layoff. Sounds quite balanced to me.
According to a lot of people, after Shane landed those right hands, PBF turned it up and Shane was done. What if Floyd starts faster, and Shane never lands those 2 right hands (2 freaking punches), you still think he's not shot? Sigh...
Shane's last win was over a very suspect Margarito AND it was ayear and a half ago that's why the # 3 in the world bit doesn't hold much water.
It's a bit hard to tell only because we can't really achieve a final verdict based on one fight. Shane looked like **** against Mayorga then all of a sudden beats the hell out of Margarito. If Shane continues with his career and let's say he beats Berto than Mayweather is going to look awfully good. But even if Shane loses there's no question in my mind DLH was the more shot fighter of the two.
How nit picky are we going to be? I mean I can easily say Cotto looked like **** against Clottey and Jennings, plus Pac had an advantage by fighting Cotto at catchweight. Are we going to discredit Pac's win over Cotto too?
That's cool if you think DLH was more shot. But I don't think Berto is that much to be honest. Quintana seems past it and gave him some problems.
Yea the Cotto win doesn't look as good because of the catch weight, it's bull****. I know that wasn't the best Cotto. And Mosley is about half his best right now.
Also, DLH was by far more shot. Evidence, the Forbes fight. He was actually marked up by a guy that is lighter hitting the Paulie
