Who else has he got though and what else could he do? He's cleared out heavyweight in a few fights. There's a few top level guys the likes of Parker or Hrgović but they don't really boost his standing much in the ATG rankings. He's one of the best ever, and right at the top you can only beat the guys around at the time. It's all just pure speculation outside of that.
As far as resume goes, Usyk is definitely up there. As far as in the ring skills, he beat a big man that throws big wide arm punches That Couldn't break through tissue paper. Usyk absolutely should have dominated Fury and knocked him out, any other half decent top 20 contender from past eras would have knocked Fury clean out.
Usyk looks like a goat but in terms of being a ATG heavyweight he isn't even the top 1000's. Lol it takes more than beating Anthony Joshua a hype job who was stopped by Andy Ruiz and Tyson Fury a fat drugged out hype job to be considered great. Yeah no boxer in boxing history ever beat somebody who weighed more than them. Didn't Daniel Dubois who weighed 240 just beat Jarrell Miller who weighed 330? Wait that next happened righ? Didn't Alexander Povetkin knocked out David Price who was much taller and heavier tham him? Didn't Ali beat Buster Mathis Sr who was much heaviier than him? Didn't George Foreman beat Jack O'Halloran who was taller and heavier than him? Didn't Mike Tyson constantly beat guys taller than heavier than him? Didn't Michael Moorer 6'2 LIght heavyweight beat the 6'10 250 to 300 pound Mike White? Didn't Evander Holyfield constantly beat guys much taller and heaveir than him? No, none of this ever happened. Usyk is the only guy in boxing history to ever beat somebody bigger than him. He beat the great Joshua, a guy so great he got knocked out by overweight butterball Andy Ruiz. Then he beat the legendary Tyson Fury who is so great that the best person he ever beat was a 40 year old Wladimir Klitschko and didn't even look good. Usyk has a goat face but is a average boxing fighting in a era were casuals act like being average makes you a ATG.
deserves a mention, like sal sanchez does. for doing what they did in the time given them. but thats as far as its ever gonna get. the circumstances arent there for him to rise above that, imo. lack of time and quality opposition.
Sanchez was a great but what Usyk has done is greater. Going from cruiser and snatching the belts and hearts of the #1 and #2 behemoth of super heavies is amazing. Just amazing. I don’t think we ll see someone do that again in our life time.
Yes he has surpassed holyfield now. Usyk is the goat at cruiser, top 5 atg at heavy and imo top 20 atg
lets hope not. were due for a better crop of hw's. there are just no complete fighters at hw besides usyk today. that matters. aj is the closest thing, but he doesnt understand what he needs to do to beat usyk, where hes gonna win the fight. these guys are very entertaining in the hw division, their individual weaknesses make the fights competitive and hard to predict. whats not hard to predict is what happens when they fight a guy without those weaknesses. a complete fighter. a fighter fighting at a level reserved for the true elite.
At cruiser I think he's #1. At heavy his resume is very good, but also very short. Hard to rate a guy super high like that at heavy. Then again, there's another argument that cruiser today is the heavyweight of yesterday.
Why are you using losses to try and prove your point? Lennox Lewis had two embarrassing losses and somehow he's the h2h goat.
