Jones fought enough good fighters to not be labeled that way.

and so does mayweather but in the bigger picture, both fighters are still cherry-pickers in their own rights, with jones sharing the ring with part-time policemen.

Everyone is a cherry picker if that's the criteria. Believe me, some of those Asian fighters that Pacquiao fought in between fighting big fights had other jobs as well. Nearly every champion has fought guys who have other jobs. Fact of the matter is, the majority of boxers have other jobs unless they are championship level fighters, meaning top 10 contenders. And even some of them.

In the bigger picture, nearly every fighter Jones fought after fighting Hopkins was a top 10 Ring rated fighter OR a champion or former champion. So if having a few tune up nobodies on his resume is cherry picking, then everyone is.

no, its understandable if you were fighting part-time boxers at the beginning of your career. but jones started his career in 1989, in 1994 he beat toney, then the no.1 pound for pound champ. and after that anyone should expect jones to be fighting elite caliber opponents. but what do they get, jones went back to part-time boxers and bums for his PPV fights/sparring work-out.

You can say "no" all you like. The facts tell a different story. Most boxers have other jobs unless they are elite level. And no fighter fights elite boxers every fight.

And Jones never went "back to back" fighting bums on PPV. If you have proof of him fighting unranked opponents back to back on PPV, please, enlighten me! Oh, and the cop, Richard Frazier, was not on PPV if I recall correctly. As a matter of fact, there are only 2 fighters on Jones resume who were announced and known to the public as having another job, Frazier was one and admittedly a bum, the other was a top 5 ranked unbeaten challenger named Julio Gonzalez who would later claim the lineal title.

You won't be able to perpetuate that myth with me, unless you feel that it was inappropriate for Jones to fight the top contenders and champions in his weight class.

in ppv or not, jones dented his resume with names of undeserving opponents. most people agree mayweather is a cherry-picker for fighting the likes of bruseles, mitchels and baldomir. on the other hand, jones in his 11 defenses of his 175 lbs title has more unknown opponents than mayweather had. i'm not trying to ague for mayweather, i'm just saying if both were in their primes, and a posible head to head fight was made (assuming one is enlarged or shrinked) both fighters would have made negotiations impossible so as for fans to say they ducked each other.

Unknown and "part time fighters" and "policemen" are vastly different things. Your original statement insinuated that Jones fought a few of these fighters at least, which is not the case. Unknown doesn't = not good.

Most of the fighters at 175 were unknown at the time. However, looking at their resumes, you will see that nearly every one of them were champions or top level contenders. Mayweather didn't beat the top contenders for his titles or any other reigning champions at 135-154. Jones did.

Jones was tough to negotiate with. He wanted most of the money and the venue. Mayweather the same. I will give you that. But most have come to realize that Jones resume was underrated when he was active because of what the fighters did AFTER Jones beat them.
