I think he could have signed it, especially since i heard the agreement was if they were both successful in their next fights. Meaning that if Canelo loses to Trout he can opt not to fight him. Im saying he could because i see no other big fight out there for him excluding Pacquiao and Martinez, both unlikely options. However, i dont like Canelos stand on this. Who is he to put an ultimatum on Floyd. If he wants to fight on the May 4th card against Trout so be it, but Floyd agreeing to fight him later shouldnt be a point of negotiation for that IMO.

Definitely not. People would ***** if he didn't sign and would ***** if he did really. If he did the ******s will say he would fight Alvarez even if he loses to Trout. If he doesn't sign, he's ducking the terrifying Alvarez(who's biggest win to date is Mathew Hatton).

B_scene today has Reynoso saying it was if Alvarez and Mayweather both win in May they'd fight in September.

Showtime might be sweating a little.

Reynoso's statement there is ambiguous since he prefaces it with a sentence which also implies the two would fight regardless. And let's be clear as well, he's not exactly a neutral source on the question. The initial story was that Alvarez absolutely was demanding a shot regardless of outcome to be on the undercard.

Also I think anyone who ever complained about the Mayweather-Judah taking place has little ground to stand on when it comes to criticizing this fight not being signed.

Signing secondary fights in advance is a bad idea, just IMO. Takes focus off the current opponent. Win your current fight, then talk.

They could have signed it under the condition he Canelo beat Trout, under a confidential agreement.

Is the confidential agreement no longer confidential after Trout beats Alvarez?
