Ok, now I understand why Wilder-Helenius comes off...

They can sanction if the for the vacant WBC title.

The fight makes no sense at all if there is no belt on the line. Helenius would be Wilder's fourth or fifth best opponent. He's not going to fight a better opponent in his comeback fight than most of the guys he defended the title against. But now that Fury is probably retiring, they can sanction if for the belt.

Now it became a comparatively easy fight. Wilder should be fighting the winner of Joyce-Parker, the number 2 and 3 contenders. Instead, they can have him fight the #10 contender and give him the belt back.

This is more of the fraud train rolling along.

    My prediction:

If this gets sanctioned for the belt, it happens, because is is perceived as an easy route to hand him the title back.

If it does not, Wilder gets "Covid" or there is a fake PEDs scandal like with Povetkin.

By the way, Helenius, for all his faults, hits harder than anyone Wilder has faced, and he finally appears healthy, so they could be miscalculating.

Wasn't Helenius a sparring partner of Wilders? I agree with you that this looks like it's shaping up to give Wilder back the WBC belt.

I still believe Helenius could start fast and pull off the upset. We don't know how damaged Wilder really is yet, after all he did get mauled by a huge fat gypsy twice in a row. Then there is the psychological aspect, has he put his demons to bed finally?

Doubtful... but Wilder can never be counted out due to that war crime of a right hand.

I think the WBC thinks if Joshua wins Saturday the odds are good that Fury will challenge Joshua for all the belts. Fury may even challenge Usyk if he wins. That's why I think the WBC is dragging their feet on stripping Fury of their title.

Ortiz vs Ruiz is the title eliminator isn't it? I'm sure it was confirmed as that.

Fans are assured a firefight and a KTFO here.

    Haney-Kambosos II? Not so much.

Helenius can outbox Wilder. I mean who can't? Unfortunately, one big punch from Wilder will probably end it. A younger Helenius pre the injuries would have beaten Wilder.

The Helenius who wasn't having an easy time with significantly faded versions of Brewster, Peter and Liakhovich, who was relatively inexperienced as a pro and stiff as a board? Even Wlad's best contenders (except Fury) in their primes weren't as good as Wilder, let alone the washed up versions.

Helenius couldn't outbox Stiverne in the amateurs. You can also compare the Liakhovich performances. Helenius's only chance against Wilder would have been and still is a puncher's chance early in the fight.

I doubt Wilder-Helenius will be for the vacant belt. More likely that the winner of Wilder-Helenius fights the winner of Ruiz-Ortiz, either for the vacant belt of for "interim champion" status.

Not paying for either one but come on....the HW fight will be a slugfest while it lasts. Kam-Haney II will be non competitive and full. Helenius has a slim chance to win, Kambosos has no chance.

Who are the 3-4 Wilder opponents better than Helenius? Obviously Fury is one, and you could definitely make a case for Ortiz, but I’d say at worst, Helenius would be his 3rd toughest opponent. If you compare the resume of Ortiz and Helenius, they are actually pretty similar, plus Helenius is younger and presents some unique challenges with his height and reach.
