I feel a bit sorry for Ortiz, a guy of 37 watching a punk kid like Joshua get a belt against a total bum.
Joshua would end up unloading constantly on Ortiz while Ortiz would be competitive and even kind of dangerous, the amount of damage will start to show around the 7th (probably earlier) and ortiz will have to be saved by the ref. At 37 he's going out on his shield and his corner would not be thinking of his future. This fight would set Ortiz and his family up for life while at the same time ending Ortiz career. If Ortiz fights someone good and wins, the hype might start, that's when Joshua would challenge him. Joshua wants only the big names, Ortiz should start calling him out, that's a Start.
Joshua would have to be favored in my book. He's far younger, quicker, more talented and has comparable power ( though I'm not sure who hits harder. ) but despite all these things, if I were Joshua's team I'd try to keep him away from an opponent like Ortiz.. High risk low reward type of proposition.. And taking the wrong punch at the wrong time from Ortiz could derail anyone's career..
I got Ortiz by KO, think he's more skilled, smoother, more experience and just a better fighter overall.
At this stage, I'd favor Ortiz within four or five. But Joshua can certainly knock him out with the type of power he has.
Ortiz is 10 (times, maybe) less than Sanders on the back hand over back hand counter. Don't get carried away, now. Ortiz doesn't have the speed like Sanders did. But, it's enough to crack Joshua if he were to get a little over zealous. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
A week ago I'd have gone Ortiz with a fair bit of confidence but now I don't know. Joshua was looking very good but Martin wasn't... it's a fight I'd love to see. Ortiz has still fought at a higher level and not looked overly stressed, though AJ looked like he's just going to destroy whatever is in front of him with a lesser but by no means harmless opponent.
I think Joshua edges this one, Ortiz is formidable no doubt.. but Joshua would be the bigger man of the two and Ortiz would struggle with his power.
