    :rofl

as aj415 said it was more the way it was put across most kids in our gym would be looking at whoever said it and think, "what the **** is this guy on about, he must be ****ed up"

if i was in this situation i would just train like mad and ask/figure-out ways to beat this guy so that he doesnt wanna spar with me again, and he finds excuses why he's not training, i.e. ive forgot my mouth peice.

and with the rumours, id just let them pass because no doubt if this guy was being a ***** to one person he is being a ***** to everyone else so would just laugh them off cause noone would really take them seriously and if they do so what?

Tell me if im wrong but If your sparring a guy like this and he goes rough, its only going to make the fight easier aint it? you dont know who your going to come across on fight night so if you try and get as much experience as possible in the ring its only going to make it easier

p.s. Bodi i like your positive attitude lol, why be anything else?:D

Ok, so you call someone out, who accepts your offer, and you come back with a remark that was supposed to be witty... well done you.

I'll give you this, you talk the talk, and when it comes to walking the walk, you're still here doing the talk... childish behaviour.

I think you said it best when you said "KIDS in our gym", that pretty much sums things up.

As far going as hard as you can against this guy in sparring, you have completely misinterpreted my point. Let me break it down for you. By following your plan of trying to give this guy a beating, you are dealing with it like a child, and you are also dropping down to his level. Tie that in with the fact that **** like this can get you kicked out of a gym. If I ever saw ANY of my fighters sorting their differences in the ring without good reason, they would be banned from my gym before they knew what hit them.

By attempting to deal with it respectfully, you are giving the other guy a chance to sort out any differences - you never know, it might all have been a complete misunderstanding, and if this was the case, you can go ahead and spar properly.

A boxing gym is not a place to settle petty, schoolyard disputes, it is a place to LEARN. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with hard sparring, and yes, it does help to condition you for the fight, but it needs to take place in a controlled environment, with two controlled participants for you to take anything valuable away from it.

Mark my words, if you walked into any world class boxing gym, and you took that attitude in with you, you would be shown the door immediately.

The attitude that I am referring to is the idea of sorting out a personal dispute during sparring. Sparring is there to teach people how to box, and it should be undertaken in a controlled manner. If you have a problem with another fighter in your gym, good for you, but I defy you to find any coach worth his salt to sanction sparring so two parties can settle their differences. Personal issues and such like should be left at the door when you enter the gym, and if you want to take up the problem on the way out, so be it, batter the **** out of each other in the car park if you want - this isn't the issue though. The issue is that of fighting, instead of sparring!

Edit: Also, with respect to your comment of "if i was in this situation i would just train like mad and ask/figure-out ways to beat this guy " - again, sparring is not a fight, it is not looking for ways to win. Sparring is for learning, and once again, for you to take anything positive away from it, both parties have to 'spar' in a controlled fashion, and preferably under supervision.

Just don't spar with him :/, obviously he's just trying to show off. If you have to try to beat people up in sparring, obviously that means you can't win an actual fight :/.
