i'd try to get some smaller bills from the states, as well as the domestic fights, like Gary Shaw, Lou DiBella etc... Also try to get some of that far East fights like Hasegawa etc...
ok we have gotta be realistic. there is still going to be ppv (personally i think sky should start a premium sports channel they charge extra for and scrap box office) I would sign Hennesey in addition to the other 5 (you forgot Hatton) I would have a show every other tuesday (Main Event British/Commonwealth title or better) and a show every friday (2 british/commonwealth title fights or better), and try and show a US show every other week. So there will always be at least 2 live shows a week. Sky would jsut need to sign a deal with Top Rank and Goldenboy to get fights every other week. Then have Froch, Haye, Khan on Box Office and always have an American show following on (if the fights in the US have a british build up) I would also completley change the format of the Friday and Tuesday Night shows, make it like ESPN friday night fights. Show 2 fights maximum and have the rest of the time previewing and reviewing the fights, having fan questions and highlights and news from boxing around the world. Before you go nuts about only showing 2 fights, all undercard bouts would be made avalible for free on Skysports.com What you think?
I would make a contest between Ricky the Hitman Hatton versus Ajose Olusegun in Manchester at the same arena Hatton defeated Tyzu. It would bring the best out of both men. 2 genuinely nice men who can really fight. That would make hairs on the chest stand up I can tell you. Great venue. I would also make McCloskey versus Witter(assuming Witter is not retiring. A loss to McCloskey might convince him). Back David Haye and Cral Froch big time. Most importantly get the best to fight the best consistently.
Yes anyone who takes a clean punch from Iron Mike Tyson and live to tell the tale obviously has something about them.
I already thought Sky Sports was a premium sports channel that I was paying twice for already? I pay for Sky and then for the premium sky sports package with all the bells and whistles. I know fighters want a load of cash when they hit the big time and I understand that if a promoter can not get them the cash then the fighter will disapear some place else and the fighter would not be bothered if he had to cut his losses from Britishtv and either go stateside or to the Germans so for certain fighters ppv events are needed if the fans want to see the elite boxers like Hatton and Khan. £15 watch Hatton vs Mayweather or Pac was fine but £15 to watch him fight journeymen without a big undrecard is poor and if Warren puts on a fantastic bill to pad out Khans title fights against decent but not great opposition then that is fine but to pay £15 and not see half of the big fights is a joke. Sky just need to try and not rip the fans off.
Ajose couldn't sell out the venue if he was fighting in his own back yard... So him vs Hatton would never ever happen.
I'd go for Mick Hennessey because he would just ram him with that belly. If that didn't work all he'd have to do is wear that blue polo he wore for the Cleverly vs McIntosh show and Frank would die laughing!
Also have a few more documentary/profiles to fill up the week during quiet periods when there isn't much else going on, like they did back in the 90's with Calzaghe, Hamed etc (anyone remember "Merry Christmas Naseem Hamed"). They were usually an hour to 90 minutes long.
id make the promoters compete for dates also i would have to approve every fight on the bill for it to be filmed. would try to get GBP and Topr rank signed up
Just to put a few things right. Warren's contract is up. Hayemaker has no contract with Sky - only PPV David Haye. Hatton Promotions has an 8 fight deal.
