Your Danny Garcia, Whats your game plan for Saturday how do you beat Mayweather. I always see post of how Floyds going to beat his opponent how Pacquiao will beat his opponent, thats easy when you are the favored to win and expected to win.... So rather than to pat yourself on the back and claim victory predicting something that pretty much anybody can predict, whats your game plan with Ortiz.... I am pretty confident that the usal suspects here avoid even posting as its too complicated for them though they claim to have enough insite lets see if anybody comes up with something decent.
I made a thread like this and gave Bradley and Berto gameplans against Pac/May. Haven't done Ortiz yet
Speaking of Bradley I heard that he gave Victor some work in the last couple weeks not sure that thats the right style though....
Hit Mayweather low in the opening roudn and make it dirty, get in his head and make sure he worries about your power and nasty streak from the off. Don't stand off him.
If I'm Ortiz I am making this physical as **** but not really letting my punches go until May is backed up into the ropes. I would pretty much try to walk Floyd down and back him up but not throw punches unless he throws punches and then try to catch him opening up or unless he is touching the ropes. Or if he tags me and holds me I would get violent trying to get free even if it means throwing him to the gruond and if my arm gets free then just hit him whereever what ever. Make this an ugly war and if Cortez wants to take points then so be it. Also I would focus not necessarily on landing big punches that hurt but maybe just connecting something, anything.
:think that's not a bad idea. Timmy is somewhat similar to Floyd, but at the same time he's very far off
Before training camp begins ask yourself "What are some of the things Mayweather is great at;what are his weapons that you have to neutralize?" Right off the bat Mayweather uses a lead left hook and that straight right. Those are his money punches. So, we haveto neutralize them. Easier said then done, now the big question is HOW do to do it? First things first, Ortiz doesn't have a jab. That's not good he sticks it out and sort of paws with it and doesn't judge distance well. So, Mayweather will have a field day. Left hook, elbow, hold. Break the clinch, Ortiz gets close, Mayweather left hook, elbow, hold, rinse wash repeat. He has to avoid pawing with the jab so all of training camp I would work with Ortiz in throwing a nice straight, quick, jab BUT bring it right back. Right back to the chin to defend yourself because Mayweather will start adapting and timing it with his left hook. Next point, trying to take away his straight right. This is a bit tricky because Ortiz is a southpaw and a straight right usually had a field day with southpaws. The main thing you have to do is circle to te right. Just like a power shot you have to circle away from it that's why I'd be telling Ortiz to circle to his right and avoid the right hand. That does take away Ortiz' right hook because you moving to the right andyou can't exactly step in as well. So, just every once in awhile while jabbing mvpjng to the right jump in with a right hook and try and catch him. Last point, try ad disrupt his timing. Don't let Mayweather start timing you be a bit tricky and clever jump in and out jab to the body left to the head. Circle to the right jump in with a right hook. Lead left hands. Be clever and don't get predictable. And if all that doesn't work, then hey, gotta go with plan number 4 and just go for broke. Get inside, on him like a shirt and pound away at him. So, there you go. I'm on my phone right how, so paragraphs might be off andsome spelling might be off, but that's my two cents on what Ortiz' gameplan might need to be.
Ortiz should just come in the ring with no gloves on and shoot him, because that's the only way he's going to beat Floyd Saturday night.
The path I would take is something like this, We know Floyd is going to fight a smart fight, but that doesnt mean you have to match him in that area make it a Physical fight, Push Floyd back, Hatton was able to do that and he is much smaller than Ortiz. Like Philla said, when you have him on the ropes let them hands go and take what ever he gives you I would aim for the left bi cep area if there are no openings combonation punching is going to be the key for Ortiz one or two at a time wont do it, forget the bombs let your hands go nice and loose. on the inside you know Floyd is going to try and tie you up, as you did in the berto fight free your hands and keep punching while he ties you up, also when you feel that left elbow start to push you off rip hard right uppercuts up the middle and follow up with that right hook... when Floyd pushes you off with that elbow there is a hole there so fill it.. if Floyd bends forward while your inclose lean on him ala Wlad/Vitali sap any bit of energy he has, but you also must make this a high paced fight if you allow Floyd to slow it down he will take control keep it high paced. Left hands, Fient with the jab you already know you dont have, Floyd will look to counter the southpaw jab with his own jab, so feint with it and throw the left hand, Also hook with that left hand the location of Floyds right hand you can get around it if you hook with that left hand, Corley did this and had plenty of success and he also was able to put right hooks behind it and catch Floyd. Body shots as often as you can get them in, but dont reach that is the key, and when you do come foward look for Floyds right Uppercut, everybody is talking about Floyds right hand, I dont think thats the Ortiz killer I beleive its the right uppercut so watch for that shot but also if you do come in like that either prepair to block it or meet him with your left hook as he will be wide open for it should he throw an uppercut as you come in. Dont look to get Floyd out of there with one shot dont think you can get him out early be ready for a long night of work, avoid chasing Floyd.... if Ortiz keeps it a highpaced fight but with in his control he can pull off the win, keys are work rate, composure and defense here, his defense isnt the best but it doesnt have to be defense doesnt win fights offense does. If Floyd stands in there with you to bang it out, dont stand in there too long, Floyds got a decent chin keep that in mind, but when you do enter exchanges take what he gives you no matter how much or how little and move out of the way. from the outside I would tell Ortiz to target Floyds left shoulder when his left hand is down low, repeat the pattern that Byrd used against Vitali and Holyfield, eventually that shoulder will give and you will have a one handed fighter in front of you, he cant move the body like he can his head, plus when you hit him in the shoulder/chest area the force will cause Floyd to square his body up as you land fire that left hand down the pipe as there will be an opening there..... Ortiz does not have to improve a whole lot to win, he just needs to understand what areas suit him best, and he must also understand where Floyds strong areas are and where his weak ones are there are not many weak areas but the positions Floyd does leave himself in quite often may be enough for Ortiz to do damage.
I'm not an expert, but why not... Well he certainly can't box on the outside. He has to bring the aggression, pressure and infighting that he used against Berto. It's pretty much his only chance...he doesn't have the tools to box with Floyd, so he should avoid the chess game routine and make it a wild, heated fight on the inside. Push Floyd onto the ropes, wrestle him around in the clinch, and when he uses his elbow and forearm on your throat be ready to dip low and shoot some bodyshots, because he's probably trying to get leverage for one of his straight right hands. Getting under that shot and hurting him to the body, especially his apparently vulnerable rib, would do wonders. Use a lot of feinting, especially as you back him up to the ropes -- rather than lunging in with a hook like Hatton, try and fake him into throwing his counter FIRST, and then exploit that with a right hand over the top as he's moving to the side. (Notice that Marquez was able to hit Floyd in a similar way to this when they were at the ropes.) Head movement. Lots and lots of head movement behind a high guard, as you're coming in, moving away, etc. I would usually like to see a good jab, but Ortiz can't suddenly develop one for a single fight, so I would just advise him to tighten up his hooks on the outside...sometimes they're so wide that they're easy to counter as he's moving forward, making him very vulnerable. Go for constant activity. Ortiz needs to use his youth and conditioning to pour all his energy out into relentless pressure and attacking. Trying to conserve stamina and step off the gas a bit will probably make Floyd come after you and pile up point after point while you take stinging shots. He's a thinking fighter who prefers a slow pace where he can use his pot-shotting...so make the fight the opposite. Make things quick, make him uncomfortable, keep him from relaxing and resting physically and mentally. If you do this for a while and land good shots, Floyd will take it up a gear and this is when he becomes more dangerous. He'll throw more combinations, he'll be more aggressive, and he'll try to impose his will on you. You can't back off here, even if he tags you...you need to push on even more strongly and exploit his aggression by trying to set him up for big shots to force him back into his shell.
I would have him apply enough pressure that PBF isn't totally comfortable, but not get overly anxious to the point that he is rushing in and getting smothered and/or countered. I would advise him to use his jab, but not get too much into it because it's going to open him up for counters and guys tend to get predictable when trying to work too much behind their jab. I would advise him to go to the body with power as much as possible, I wouldn't care if he landed one punch to the head prior to the sixth round. I would also want those body shots coming in the form of combinations, as many as he could get off. I would want him to plan to get hit, we aren't going to stand and look at PBF "hoping to not get countered" and allow him to get off first and dictate the pace. I would want my guy to dictate the pace of the fight (much easier said than done). I don't want my guy getting stuck in "tie ups" all night, PBF is great coming out of "breaks" and fighting inside, his movement coming out of breaks usually leads to him going on the offensive. Opponents tend to go stationary coming out of a break and PBF takes advantage, we don't want to be tied up, period. Mid Range is where we are going to win and we'll do it with a strong body attack. Obviously I'm not a professional or anything but this would be how I would try.
Thats how I see it to, he doesnt use the angles Floyd uses in the ring he moves in and out comes in low with his head, however the speed and I guess the cross over defense will give him some good looks but other than that I am not sure how i feel about this. I heard this from WBC rep Rudy Tellez who also says that Floyd may not pull this one out... Not sure why he came up with that one or what he saw that made him beleive that, but hes rarely wrong in picking winners...
Pretty solid though I think in order to get off a good assault to Floyds body you have to mix it up if you focus soley on the body the first half Floyds elbows will block most of those shots, so take everything head body, biceps what ever he gives you. But he has to make this high paced for sure, I am not so sure that a sloppy fight would serve Ortiz bad, lets be real Hatton made it for a ****ing ugly fight and lasted most of the fight, that may be what helps Vic here as I beleive that had Hatton not brought that type of fight he would have gotten startched almost like Pac did to him... The sloppyness kept Floyd thinking and it kept him off balance and when your off balance its hard to get a good shot off. Did you read mines?
I like this gameplan ^ ...I also think Victor should pay a whole lot of attention to his body and try to break him down with some heavy bodyshots... But then again going up against Floyd , its a whole lot easier said then done .
