I made a thread a while ago asking if Ortiz would respect Floyd's power. The thing is, I believe that Floyd DOES have stinging power, but Ortiz will have to bite the bullet in this one and go in, otherwise he will have to suffer gradual punishment at a range where he has no chance. I believe Ortiz can do this. He has shown the heart in his last fight, and this is what young people do. Take risks.

Make the fight as rough and chaotic and as physical as possible. 10 years of age is a big difference. First thing I'd tell him to do, while using efficient pressure without tiring yourself, amidst that find a way to 'accidentally' headbutt him. Preferrably over the eye. Ortiz has been in enough scraps and has the style and stance to probably make this happen. Keep charging in like he did in the Berto fight. If he starts using his forearms on your neck try using the high guard next approach and nail him on the body. Get in close and aim for his floating ribs. Do not let him get further than 2 feet away from you otherwise it'll start becoming his game.

Very simple. Let his hands go and make it a brawl and a nasty fight. If he boxes him , ge geta school. Try to land a big shot early. Get your confindents up and dont let up for a second . Lots of head movment and work the jab all night

 

Work on cutting off the ring in a high guard, trapping FMJ, throwing a flurry of straights mixed with hooks, back off, rest, make FMJ follow you while jabbing at him making a point NOT to exchange, then when ready to repeat? Do it again. The key is to force FMJ into unanswered exchanges De La Hoya style.

Do this over and over stealing early rounds. Hopefully, if you can steal 2+ rounds? FMJ will need to be a bit more offensive. Then you can be a little more aggressive and make this UGLY, hoping that you can push the pace and maybe even score a KD. The key is here to NOT let FMJ slow the fight down to a counter punching crawl.

Yes, I would almost abandon the jab. Ortiz has no jab and FMJ eats crap jabs for lunch. It would be a nightmare to couple a crap jab with a southpaw stance. FMJ will have a 7 course feast on the right side of Ortiz' dome.

The thing about beating FMJ is that guys work on throwing tons of combos, i.e., FIGHTING. The crap doesn't work. He has a hair trigger, insane footwork, and amazing reads. He WILL hit you first if you try to FIGHT him. Cut off the ring, get your gloves up, unload when you corner him. It is so simple, but every single opponent ends up chasing and frozen.

Let me keep it short, sweet and simple.

Force Floyd to lead first and look to time him on the inside with a short right hook, When Floyd adapts to this, convert to a forward style and look to rip to the body. When Floyd adapts to this, look to fight dirty.

 

Here is the deal. I believe Floyd has declined and is not that into boxing. (of course he will train hard he always does, but mental aspect is faded a bit).
Floyd has retired 2x but at the same time it is hard to walk away from 10-30+ Million dollar paydays.
He did 2.4 Million buys with Oscar. 2 years later and 1.4 million less with JMM.
He is looking for the absolute least risk and to still make big $, knowing he is not at his best and stuck at 147.

No Pacquiao and with all the heat he needed to take a good fight, the next best to fighting Pac to earn his $. The risk factor is no longer an option for him to choose. Complete disaster of a fight for him. If he pulls this off which is a longshot it will be straight up gangsta.

Slow starter off a long layoff vs a long strong southpaw who has upped his punch output to nearly 50 a round.
Floyd will be rusty countering and will be overwhelmed by Victor's pace and abudance of power shots and their variety with both hands.
Victor is peaked mentally and physically. There was no other fight for Floyd to take and no way to leave the $ on the table while not ready to fight Pacquiao.

Ortiz will make it a war and his opponent will not want to participate and will retreat and be retired somewhere on the ropes.
