Typically I would agree, but Honestly (mostly due to experience) I believe PBF is better than Victor on the inside and when he stops throwing PBF will punish him for it. Think how many guys have tried to employ this strategy when going at PBF, to me it plays into PBF's hand. It's like a trick question where you go I really think this is right but it's like the teacher is baiting me into taking this answer...it's right on paper but I just don't know that it would work out.

 

Jab to body, right hook upstairs. Floyd absolutely hates those 2 and are the 2 most effective against him.

My gameplan would involve one where to prevent Floyd from adapting.

2 rounds jab to torso, chest, shoulders, arms, plexus, no headshots as Floyd will have his right counter ready. By the time Floyd starts adapting, change strategy every 2 rounds. Have Victor bob and weave, brawl with Floyd, focus on roughhouse tactics. Then go back to body jabbing, circle to Victors right avoiding Floyds lead right. Id rather gamble with Floyds leaping check left hook where hes more open to a counter coming forward than a counter or lead right. High guard for Victor too make Floyd land bodyshots. Make Victor taunt Floyd to make him come forward instead of fighting off his backfoot. Floyds body would be the main focus.

You are in there with the most intelligent Boxer of this era and you are talking about "forcing" him? Not happening.

I'm gonna have Ortiz bull-rush Floyd and be like Margarito with a little head movement. Press the action and just hit Floyd anywhere. Even his arms. Make this fight ugly be aggressive and just punch as much as you can. Floyd has a tendency to put on a shell when attacked. That's when you steal some rounds. Of course his chances of winning is slim to none so might as well do this. A headbutt wouldn't be bad too. Cut Floyd and let him see his blood. That should help. Or give him a dose of his own medicine and use your elbows and choke him. Just make this fight ugly just like the late Agapito Sanches against PAC.

This will be competitive much the same as the Hatton fight was. Ortiz is bigger and stronger than Hatton but Floyd has gotten bigger as well. Floyd is certainly strong at this weight and I think a lot of his opponents underate his strength and physicality at 147. I really have not seen him manhandled at this weight. If Berto was able to catch ortiz with those shots with the right hand then you can be certain Floyd will 'touch" Ortiz with the right hand all night long. This fight could go both ways - We could have a fight similar to Floyds first fight with Jose luis castillo, a rough and tumble affair with Floyd coming away with a majority or split decision win or we could have a fight similar to Floyds fight with Gatti where Floyd just dominates from the get go. I think the latter scenario is more likely with Ortiz corner throwing in the towel somewhere around the 8th or 9th round. Great fight card though ! Pity about the Mathysse/Morales non fight but it looks like they found a worthwhile substitute.

 

I would tell Ortiz to hit floyd right on his balls and then see what's Elerbe reaction would be.
once the first round is over.... Ellerbe would be massaging floyd's balls in the corner instead of floyd's chest.

 

If I was Ortiz, I would take a calm head in to the ring with me (I doubt he will though, it's the biggest fight of his his career). I would try to apply calculated pressure, mainly targeting Mayweather's body, arms, etc...anywhere I can hit him basically, not too many going upstairs though. Mayweather willingly backs himself on to the ropes at times, this is the time to try feints and switch from body to head.

I feel people are overrating Ortiz's power at this point, maybe they are hoping for that one punch that will get Mayweather in trouble. I just don't see it myself, it would have to be via accumulation IMO. If Ortiz does get Mayweather in trouble, he needs to stay calm, stay patient, and pick his shots...Mayweather is great at surviving. If he does what he did against Berto, he will let Mayweather off the hook.
