Okay, let it be said that catch-weights are an intergral part of the sport.

Someone even once brilliantly said that it is one way we can see the best match-ups in boxing. :yep (I forgot who you are man, but kudos to you)

Even with the catch-weight, the fighter moving up is already at a disadvantage because of being a naturally smaller man. So a win is already a tall order.

It is now the time that we do not discredit the win of a fighter against somebody who lost weight. They agreed to fight in the first place and it is their responsibility to keep their bodies in check.

Your second sentence completely fails to provide an adequate justification for your first. The mere fact that both fighters consented to a weight below the divisional limit has absolutely nothing to do with whether the winner should be treated as if he won at the full limit.

IMO, Pacquiao beating Cotto at 145 is less impressive than doing so at the full 147, and the same will apply to any potential Floyd victory in this fight.

    Agree with both of those.

    But to what degree?

Even the harshest critic of CW's states that Cotto is one of Pacquiao's very best wins...

So I really don't see why people are getting their panties ruffled.

Agree with this. Pac beating Cotto was still a great win and i don't think Cotto was too drained at the weight. Same goes for Floyd-Canelo.

Obviously evaluating the degree depends on a variety of factors, but the suggestion that no discrediting whatsoever should occur is what I take issue with.

In this particular case, I'd say panties are being ruffled because Floyd and the more mindless Floyd fans did take direct issue with the CW concept and also probably discredited the Cotto victory to a far greater extent than was reasonable. In response, the more mindless Pacquiao fans are applying that same logic to this fight. And thus the cycle of mindlessness can continue...

I wish I was around during Pac's catchweight campaign. It is until Floyd does it that everyone on here starts warming up to them. *****s are the worst thing ever.

I don't know of anyone who has claimed they prefer the fight at 152 rather than 154.

    Agree with you, purephase.

Lot of hypocritical statements to be made in the coming months/years.

This is the kind of fight catch-weights were made for. It's fair and I see no problem with it.

How is it fair and not a problem? I keep saying this as does everyone else: Floyd has fought previously at 154 lbs. what is the problem? It isn't until he faces a prime challenger at 154 lbs that he has to get all the obstacles out. Dude is a disgrace.

Didn't Canelo HIMSELF fight Hatton at a catchweight for the WBC 154 lb. belt (a catchweight that he failed to make)

The problem is the belts will be on the line. This is still a great fight considering that Canelo will still weigh in 170 lbs on fight night.

Canelo's a big boy and Floyd will only way about 150/151. That's why.
