I'll still roll with Breidis for now, he has more power and a better all around game than Glowacki. That being said Okolie really impressed last night. He showed good movement, excellent power, and the ability to keep range without obscene amounts of holding (granted some of that was Glowacki's static counter punching approach)
You'd have to favour Breidis on pedigree. That said every year that passes makes it more likely that a young lion overthrows him.
Briedis is definitely past it, but i wouldn`t bet against him. Another hype thread after a solid win, and then here we go again with over-hyping certain boxers ... Same with the losses, but in the other aspect.
Okolie calling out Breidis is like V. Ortiz calling out Crawford...sounds good, sounds macho, but too early for either guy. Both of them need to marinate a bit more before stepping up to the Breisis' and Crawfords of the world. LOL judging Okolie vs his opponent last night is very dangerous. Glowacki and his team did nothing either in the gym or in the ring to try and over come the height and reach issues. Props to OK in using his advantages but let's see what happens when he fights someone who can step under or around that jab and hook him to the body or head.
Why? I do not take offense if you think that eastern euro are poor and likewise Eddie must be here rich king vs some " polish plumber". Briedis wasn't poor for average U.K or U.S REAL white collar real net worth before even fight vs Perez. Not alone vs Usyk or WBSS2. Real net worth is actives worth - all taxes paid off and - minus all current debts. Yeah, he isn't very rich but not at all poor by educated westerners value. Briedis might financially not worry about his living: he does have enough connections to get office job, if there no covid, cool hourly rates in gym and this might be better than average western engineer's hourly rate. Use money he does have, why not, capital usage is normal and common thing. If he does have self respect, he will not sign clause papers eddie will offer even for 3 m GBP offer. If he does not have self respect, this is his own problem, not my problems. I can't hate Briedis even he does not likes me and I can't to be his fan even if I wished this a lot. He is cold like ice fortress. He might clown eddie if he had offered to fight vs Okolie in Sauerland promotion's event with referee and judges approved by Sauerland brothers and their dad. Then, the same Eddie medicine might be offered. And ask minimum warranted purse not less he get for fight vs Dorticos. Briedis deserved this because he had been ****ed up. To beatup recently concussed Glowacki ofc looked easy paycheck option but Dorticos had rights to fight vs him in next his fight. At least this Briedis had respected.
Okolie is beginning to win me over. He's no longer the P4P #1 hugger of boxing. He's got a crazy reach, and under Shane McGuigan he's utilizing it properly. Breidis offers far more than Glowacki though. I fancy Breidis to take this one. Okolie will have a big advantage with that reach in the early rounds, but I expect Breidis to use that database of knowledge in his head to figure out a way of getting past it. Breidis on points for me in a close fight.
Not on eddie cards, he already had lost all fights on U.K cards in advance. Bellew did not fought him because most likely he knew that he will stop him in distance.
except points. Briedis might beat Okolie only by stoppage in distance. 28-33 years old Briedis had achieved this with moderate effort. Current Briedis, I think needs to retire. He does not throw more than 90% even vs Dorticos. Maybe if he will recover further, WBSS2 had ****ed up Briedis with heavily ****ed up hands. Ofc I hope that he will recover further but stuff like he was ****ed up hands was well known before Gevor fight.
Briedis is a young 36, not a beaten up old man. Still he's probably on the decline Okolie had a nice win but this is a whole different level I give Okolie a very decent shot in the UK with the ref and judges in his pocket it could be 50/50 In Latvia he gets his as whooped and dominantly. Refs are a big factor in any fight, as a judges Dont get that twisted Okolie is a very good fighter, one of the best of the brits Briedis is elite though and even a faded version should be a big favourite Can't see why this can't be in Latvia Briedis is a much bigger star in his homeland, and time zones don't seem to clash for TV. WBSS Latvia fights looked pretty damn amazing, crowds were goin crazy
E-Hearn said last night that he reckons that Okolie was 16st plus in the ring last night. That's freaking obscene if true. He's a HW with SHW dimensions fighting at CW. Glowacki and Makabu are small CWs with short reaches (74'' and 75''), Briedis has a 75'' reach too but he's a lot better than Glowacki and he possess the power to spark Okolie albeit Okolie's freakish size and dimensions for the weight are a problem and he can crack too.
