Did he get lucky, as implied in Boxing News, or did he just fight a great fight, nullifying Maccarinelli's power before bludgeoning him in the ninth round? My take is that he's much underrated, and could prove to be a modern great in the revitalised Cruiserweight division. Next stop Hide (stoppage in 6 rounds) before the big one, another late stoppage over the much touted (but fairly untested) Adamek.
You must be kidding in saying that Adamek is untested. Afolabi didn't get lucky, but he didn't fight a smart fight either, and I suspect he'd get beaten by almost any aggressive fighter with a good chin.
he needs to up his workrate. i havent seen that much of him so im not too sure if it was his gameplan to let enzo punch himself out. if it wasnt then he really needs to show a bit more in the ring. he was miles behind on my scorecard
I agree, he was miles behind. However, he never let Maccarinelli get complacent, with some decent overhand rights and spiteful uppercuts thrown into the mix. I don't know, but the impression I got was that he was biding his time until Maccarinelli was spent, before stepping up a gear and getting his naturally bigger, harder hitting foe out of there. If so, he fought a great fight. Hopefully we'll find out what he's really made of in his next couple of fights...
He is good, not really that good tho... I mean he beat Enzo Macarinelli thats not to hard... Hes gonna have a tough time with Ramirez tho.
I like him (as you can tell from my avatar). Hes got skill, sound defense and good accuracy although not the most powerful. Against anyone with a good chin and stamina (Adamek) he would lose by UD. But he is certainly good enough to beat most others in the division
The man wasnt in top shape he got that fight on short notice if you remember correct, Anyhow its pointless explaining it to you doubters, I have seen Ola hold his own in the gym in there with Top world class fighters while only having 5 fights or so, the man has skills, but you will always doubt until he proves you wrong which will basicly mean he has to fight and beat all the top cruisers, which in my opinion he will.
Ola won this fight by his tactics. He let Enzo punch himself out and relied on his chin which came through. Then when Enzo was out on his feet Ola finished him. "over the much touted (but fairly untested) Adamek:rofl you can't be serious.
He knows what he's doing. He was in complete control against Enzo, He hurt Enzo big in the 3rd, but he shown great self control, many fighters would have opened up looking for the ko after rocking their opponent, but Ola took his time, he knew the opportunity would come, and when he did, he took it very well. He's a good fighter.
