Afolabi was born to fight but he's just not very expirenced and has a lot of flaws in his game esp on offence. But he is one of the most relaxed guys I've ever seen in the ring and he has a great chin and and very good defence. He also has the vision of a 15 year vet. He's good but I doubt he beats guys like Cunningham, Adamek or Jones that can fight a full 12 rounds no problem. But Afolabi will beat a lot of young up and comers and top fighters that cant fight a hard full 12.

    I'm a fan.

Lucky you, as for myself on the other hand I trained with this guy for about four and a half years, and let me say its hard to even think about him lossing, when you meet a guy like Ola its hard to route against him, and being that i got to see him spar with world class fighters at Wildcard, well I just know what I saw, and I know what he is capable of doing in that ring.

Which is why I said in the early going Enzo better not sleep on this guy, he can fight, dont let his record mislead you there is a REASON he has a low Kayo ratio.

its good to see him get his shot and pull it out, I hope they put him in there with a cunningham or a Adamek so he can prove that he is the goods, because he is. Take note, Ola did take this fight on short notice, and was not in fighting shape, when that Ola comes to fight, you will all change your thoughts.

Waiting for a guy to tire is a terrible strategy. It's not even a strategy. It's laziness.

He didn't really get "lucky" per se, but he did have the right guy in front of him to fight the style he fought.

    Adamek beats him pretty easily.

I though he got lucky. Macaranell dominated the fight and then got hit by a big one. No accumulate punshment or body shots setting the KO punch up.

Well Maccarinelli was probably overhyped to begin with, but James Toney sparred with Afolabi and had good things to say about him. A naturally gifted counterpuncher, a bit like Toney himself, but of course not on Toneys level.

Well he was beating him up until the time of the stoppage,
but I have a feeling you wouldnt know that as you probably
    havent seen the fight.

I had Enzo winning by one round the fight was closer than what them nutjobs had it scored on the air thats for sure. but it was a closer right in these eyes.

You can sit back and talk that **** and say I didnt see the fight blah blah what the **** ever, but the truth is I did, and I watched Ola bait Enzo in and shut him down when the time was right.

He did the same thing to beat Fields, pretty much. Thing is, the Tinsley fight was supposed to be a showcase, and he was fighting a journeyman with a shaky beard, and not only didn't he knock Tinsley out, but he gave away a few rounds to the clearly inferior fighter simply by being inactive. That shows me that either he doesn't think he has the stamina to fight aggressively, or he doesn't have the confidence to fight aggressively. Either way, there are going to be fighters he'll face where he will need to be more aggressive to beat them, and I'm just afraid that he won't throw enough. He has talent, but will he use it? Ramirez, on the other hand, is a very basic fighter with a ton of heart, a solid chin, high workrate and a tight guard. If Afolabi is as hesitant to actually throw punches as I've seen in the past, Ramirez should get by him pretty easily, even though he's clearly the inferior fighter.

I hear what your saying, but the problem is people said that Enzo was going to simply destroy him, and even argue in a rematch that it would happen, look we can sit back and compair styles all day and talk about work rate etc... But that usally all changes when they actually fight, like I said Ola does make you work he does bait you in, part of his game plan with Enzo was to allow Enzo to fade a bit, and it worked.

So if its not broken then why fix it? I agree Ola should have come in this fight in better condition but I also know that he got this fight on short notice, he wasnt in the best of shape, if Ola is 100% in shape you will see a much better fighter, but honestly he has sparred like I said with several world class fighters, such as both Klitschkos, Hopkins and James Toney, he knows how to handle himself in there.

    Clearly not on Toney's level.

Macaranelli hit Afolabi flush on numerous occasions. He is a tough, durable fighter who can be slippery at times but he does not counter of that defense well enough. He fights a poor man's James Toney style.

With all du respect, Enzo was ahead by several points and was clearly dominating. Ola took a lot flush shots. He showed resiliance, toughness and power but he was clearly behind.

Honestly most of Enzos shots Ola rolled with, the hardest shots Enzo landed were to the body, and Ola adjusted to that, and Ola to his credit, saw that the right hand would do the trick early, and decided to set it up for later on in the fight. Sorry but you dont see skills where I do, I guess we both saw a different fight, becuase the fight I saw, Ola did very well, Enzo was winning but not by the cards them f.UK.s had overseas.
