Bazooka - I'm with you, mate! I really think that Ola can go on to rule the Cruiser division - as long as he stays focussed and hungry. And I stand by my assertion that Adamek is relatively untested. He'd beaten a lot of no hopers before he squeeeeeeezed past Cunningham & Banks. Also, he's taken a lot of punishment in his last half dozen fights. That can't help his long term career prospects....
Waiting for a guy to tire out when your name is Ishe Smith, is a sucky idea... But when your Ola Afolabi, fighting 4 divisions up, where guys can tire up a little quicker than the little guys, isn't the best idea.... But its a ok idea.. His KO record is a bit deceiving because he can hit... Even before the knockout, Afolabi hurt Enzo... I think it was the third round... If he were a more offensive fighter, his KO #'s would be a little higher... He's a good fighter.... I wonder if BJ Flores will finally fight Ola now.......
How long has he been in America? He has little trace of a British accent and he talks about god. I dunno. I expected a cockney accent, was surprised with a generic American accent.
I've never seen Afolobi before the Enzo fight, and I don't think I've seen Victor Ramirez, Is he any good and could Ola beat him?
Ramirez is a highly agressive pressure fighter, with excellent stamina. Very average skills though. Ola would need to have a lot more gas in the tank than he had vs enzo to beat Ramirez, because he ain't knockin' him out.
i was at the afolabi enzo fight and i have to admit i was impressed with afolabis slips, bobs and general defence even tho enzo was slow as ****
way was he clearly dominating, he let off combos of 3 and no more and was predictable to afolabi, and it was obvious from the start that enzo was lethargic. i agree with bazooka he was ahead but not extremely far
This sounds about right to me. All I've seen of Ramirez is the Alexeev fight though. Afolabi will need to be a bit more aggressive in countering to win this one, if only because Ramirez holds a very tight guard, minimizes the target by using a crouched posture, and is good at covering himself back up when he throws. His actual offensive arsenal is very rudimentary though.
Ola is really good, excellent in the pocket skills, something of a James Toney. I wasn't really expecting him to beat Maccarinelli. Altough I think Ramirez will beat him.
I really think Ola won't beat Ramirez.... But no way in hell am I counting Ola out. Ola has 2 upsets in a row....you know hes serious.
