Ola Afolabi

Very relaxed and confident guy who can take a shot. i could see him letting Huck burn himself out and then stopping him late as with Enzo. I believe he is one of the Klits sparring partners so a cruiser punch shouldn't bother him too much. Not sure if he has the offensive will to make it to the top though

 

Londoner Ola Afolabi challenges German puncher Marco Huck for the WBO cruiserweight title in Germany next Saturday (December 5). Afolabi, who was born and raised here but fights out of Freddie Roach’s gym in the States, secured his shot when he dismantled Welsh giant Enzo Maccarinelli in nine upset rounds earlier this year in Manchester. It was a nice display from the classy Afolabi who brings plenty of ‘moves’ to this challenge but, in Huck, faces an aggressive, heavy handed champion who can also box a bit himself as Huck showed when he unanimously outscored Argentina’s rugged Victor Emilio Ramirez to win the title in August.
In Germany it looks like a long, hard night for Afolabi.
Nevertheless, the 29-year-old challenger has lost only to the world class Allan “Sweetness” Green in 18 outings (on points in an early career four-rounder in California) and takes over masses of world class sparring experience with the likes of Vitali Klitschko, James Toney and Michael Moorer. Germany, and Huck, will not faze him. In the ring for real Afolabi came to the fore when he stopped the previously unbeaten Eric “Danger” Fields in 10 rounds last year. His performance against Swansea’s big-hitting Maccarinelli, a man who probably hits every bit as hard as Huck, a little later also proved his right in world class. He does have a boxer’s chance against Huck, as opposed to the usual puncher’s.
To the champion, and Huck is probably best known for surviving a broken jaw (shades of Arthur Abraham) to stop Frenchman Frantisek Kasanic in May last year in nine rounds. It displayed how dangerous, how tenacious, the 25-year-old powerfully backed Huck is. Like Afolabi, he has lost only one of his fights: America’s Steve “USS” Cunningham stopped him in the 12th and last round in an IBF title battle in Germany in 2007. Cunningham could be compared to Afolabi for plenty of boxing skill, although Huck, 26-1 (20) was inexperienced at the time and has undoubtedly improved. Cunningham also hits harder than Afolabi.
To conclude, Afolabi has the slickness and the chin to take his man the full 12 rounds, but Huck keeps coming, throws more punches and secures the verdict.

 

I kind of want him to win but at the same time like to see BJ Flores face Huck after al the smack talk that's been going around with those two.
