Olawale Afolabi vs. Victor Emilio Ramírez for the IBF Cruiserweight interim title

I think most people have forgotten about VER and may write him off since he was absent from meaningful action for so long, but having monitored his comeback he looks (albeit thrashing mostly low-grade and hopelessly outmatched competition) to be the same old "Tyson del Abasto".

(I say mostly with the exclusion of Deon Elam, who is no world beater or anything but many steps above Ramirez's domestic victims, and I'd say the better scalp than Afolabi's last one in fat Caputo...)

 

Talk is, after Ramirez and then interim/full title unification with Hernandez, possibly a subsequent defense against Bellew. (a homecoming for Ola, who last fought in the UK six years ago when he knocked out Maccarinelli)

That would be a decent-sized event and probably drum up a good deal of attention domestically, and certainly would be a better CW fight than was Cleverly vs. Bellew II - and if he goes 3-0 on that run suddenly Afolabi has a massively improved resume in no time...enough perhaps to warrant a fourth try with Huck (despite being officially down 0-2-1) to unify the IBF & WBO titles. :think

 

I could see it going like Bellew vs. Chilemba I & II and Huck vs. Afolabi I, II, and III - with lots of close, hard to split rounds and controversy no matter how it gets scored.

(I had Chilemba 115-113 over Bellew the first time, draw in the rematch...I don't remember my scores for the Huck vs. Afolabi trilogy but thought all of them were close)
