How many do you own and what are they worth? I have a mint condition March, 1953 issue of The Ring; and just today got a somewhat poor (pages are all intact and fine but the cover falls off) May, 1951 issue of The Ring for $5. I was pretty pleased with my purchase of the May, 1951 Ring magazine today, but I have no idea what it's worth. I think I got a good deal only paying $5 for it. The mint condition March, 1953 issue of The Ring that I have was a gift, but I was curious how much that is worth too.
i have some ring ko boxing digest and a couple of others i think if there is a market for boxing magazines and if they are rare or a certain fighter is on the cover or if someone has a complete set they may be worth a good buck:yep:think
many things are worth surprisingly little when you want to sell them. I try pawn **** all the time and get nothing for it.
Well, Rex Layne and Chuck Davey are on the cover of mine, and there isn't exactly a high demand for magazines with them on the cover.
I used to collect boxing mags and had hundreds from the mid 70's to early 80's. All the titles that were available at the time. About 1995, I took out an ad in Sports Collector's Digest and sold them all to a guy for 100 bucks and that price included shipping. So I probably got about a quarter apiece for them.
i've got a collection of about 6000 mags collected over the years.i started buying in 1963 but bought out a few collections over the years,my collection spans from about 1923 to 2000 when i stopped buying.i've sold a few issues for 10 bucks or more each depending on condition.you have got to find someone who wants to buy. bigjake
I started buying Ring and Boxing Illustrated in the 60's...actually my dad would buy them for me..I forget how much a copy cost back then.
early 1960's they were like 35 cents each then went to 50 cents.late 1960's they were like 60 cents each. do you have any odd names in boxing mags?some publications didn't last that long like BOXING INTERNATIONAL ALLSTAR WRESTLING,OR 1960'S BOXING AND WRESTLING
I have maybe 100 or so old Ring Mags from the late 1920s to the 1980s. Some of the older ones from the 20s and 1930s,are in better condition than the war years from1941-46, because the paper of the war years were inferior, and most are now disinegrating. Too bad. Occasionaly I reread some of the mags, describing the 100s of bouts I saw with my dad, from the early 1940s, and tears well in my eyes. I have the report of the first main event fight I ever saw with my dad, between the new lightweight sensation Beau Jack against Tough Terry Young, Oct 12,1942 at the old St. Nicks Arena in NYC...I'll keep all these Mags til I shuffle off this mortal coil....
