    Get the spotlight.

Am I the only fight fan that is tried of seeing Jones, Hopkins, Oscar, Shane, stealing the spotlight with horrible showings and one punch at a time efforts. Forrest last night was a joke, and we the fans are the reason, Im not going to by another PPV that has these old ass fighters in the mix. There were great fighters but thier time has pasted, and all they are doing now is robbing the fans of better fighers.

Jones is going to rob us a chance to see Calzaghe vs Pavlik, Dawson will most likely fight Tarver and rob us of him knocking out Diaconu. Oscar is going to fight some mid level guy in September (most likely Mora) then get the winner of Cotto Margo and rob us of Williams vs the winner. By that Time Floyd will come out of retirement and face the winner of that fight and Williams will still be on the back burner, along with Berto, and Peterson. There is a slight chance that Oscar could fuk up Cotto vs Margo, if he wants one of those guys now they would jump on it and leave the other in the cold. Im tried of it.

Before Floyd retired it was ok cuz he would have beat Oscar and then fought the winner of Cotto vs Margo, now Oscar will win is next fight and he will get the winner, this is all fukked up:twisted:

Well, its hard to say. Its hard to give up your heroes. So long as Shane can still bang it out like only Shane can we're still gonna watch him. I think Oscar can do two more fights but then he should retire. Missed the Forrest fight. But so long as they are still sound and if they loose they loose competively than I don't see a problem. The young guys are not having much of a problem right now gaining an audience. It's tradition in a way to have the young guys inheiret the throne they gotta take out the old guys. Mosley's fans became, for the most part, Cotto fans.

Boxing needs the big names like RJJ, De La Hoya, Tarver, Mosley, Forrest etc to stay for the moment until the youngsters coming through like Gamboa, Khan, Angulo, Kirkland, Dirrell, Greene, Julio, Berto step up to the next level.

Good points from both of you. I am frustrated at a lot of the good dates--as well as larger portions of the network budgets--going towards fights like DLH/Forbes. However, as much as I want Bernard Hopkins to just move on, it's not like seeing him fight Calzaghe was a waste of time; that was a fight for the legitimate championship of the light heavyweight division. Mosley has shown that he can still hang with the best at 147 and as long as he keeps fighting the top guys, then it's not a problem.

What is the problem, though, is when you start getting guys going on what has been dubbed the "senior circuit". Hence, fights like Jones/Trinidad that have already happened, and proposed bouts such as a DLH/Trinidad rematch, a Jones/Hopkins rematch, Jones/Calzaghe, etc. are rightfully disparaged. They do nothing for the current landscape of the sport and prevent other, worthier fighters from taking the dates.

Point being ist hard for the young guys to get their shots when the old guys are sucking them all up. Oscar is now a b level fighter, but if he wanted to he could fuk up Cotto Margo in a heartbeat. Calzaghe still has a couple of good fights left, i just dont want to see him use them on Jones who I think has a great shot at beatting Joe, then there will be a rematch at which point Joe will join the old guys of boxing.

They are the best fighters because they highjacking the spots. I truely dont think that Calzaghe Hopkins or Jones could or would beat Pavlik, Dawson, Taylor or Bute . I dont think that Mosley and Oscar could beat Cotto or Williams but Margo is a different story, I think they could beat him.

Mosley is still a good fighter and even though he lost to Cotto, would give anyone in the top 5 at welterweight a difficult fight. You are correct about the other fighters though.

It depends on what Oscar shows up. I think that Oscar could beat Cotto, but he would have to do it quick, over time Cotto would wear him down.

but to answer your question, most of the top guys today would beat oscar now, he just seems to fade late in fights, he did that in his prime but he isnt as active in the early parts of the fights they way he use to be. On a one or two fight span I think that Oscar as well as Mosley could beat these fighters, I just dont think that its likely, the age gap is just too big, and these young guys are all active and busy fighters in the ring. That is were they would beat the old guys.

The only one of these senarios that you point out that wouldn't be that bad is if Floyd stays retired long enough to make sure his rematches with DLH and Hatton don't happen and then he comes back to fight the only fight that I want to see him in, which is PBF Cotto.

For Cotto this is the best senario. Because when Oscar fights him in December he will not have lost to Floyd again, meaning that his image will not be as tarnashed as it would otherwise have been. This means that Cotto will get more credit for beating him and the fight will be a bigger seller. Hopefully it pushes Cotto into the same or nearly the same kinda superstar status as it did for Floyd. In this way when Floyd and Cotto finally meet it will be a much bigger fight.

No version of DLH today beats Cotto. The version who fought 4-6 years ago is long gone.

Be honest here...Your just saying that because he lost to Cotto..but if you look at Shane last 5 years he hasnt been impressive, he has had tough times with fighters that he would have dismantled some years back, and fighters that went out and got knocked out by younger guys as I pointed out before.
