Foreman punched just as hard in the 90s that he did in the 70s. His KO ratio dropped in the 90s because he was no longer bull rushing people swinging bombs, and his ability to land his big punches had declined. A fighter's power does not leave them until they are in their 50s or 60s if they are still training, and Foreman was obviously training in the 90s.

if i wanted to get a guy to his a meter on how much power i would say foreman.

but i would be happy to have the bean there if george doesnt want to show up.

    but NAHHH

that overhand right is very powerful but not a genuine show of punch power. any fighter who throws that with that amount of weight and a minimal boxing knowledge can spark guys out. but foreman has better torque technique and could crush a car.

butterbeans power is just uneventful at any level above.

Seriously Butterbean never knocked out a legitimate fighter and crack induced Peter McNeeley doesnt count.

Well Bean knocked out nothing but glass jawed tomato cans. Foreman actually knocked out contenders.

@BitPlayerVesti I think some of these heathens need to see your joe louis vs butterbean video, foreman's small, oldschool frame cant handle 400lbs of modern, superior heavyweight

Foreman, easily, but I will say Butterbean has the fastest hands I've ever seen on a fat guy. (Unless I suppose you consider Tubbs fat, so I guess I'll say obese instead.)

Come on, let's give a modicum of credit where it's due. Have you seen some of Butterbean's four rounders? He utterly flattened some guys who, while not very skilled, were nonetheless quite impressive physical specimens. The blob could crack.

edit: I'd add Buster Mathis to form the great triumvirate of fast fat guys.

While Foreman was leagues better than Butterbean, the blob had top notch power-likely close to Foreman in pure force.

I do not believe that most anyone that size with enough training could hit near as hard.
He did have a gift for power, & that disproportionate hand speed is a big part of it.

The way Butterbean threw overhands reminded me of Mighty Mo from K-1, another huge blob with underrated handspeed and great weight transference. The punch might not have a great chance of landing, but when you're able to turn over your weight that fast and that efficiently then it can do some serious damage.

Not saying anything regarding the debate at hand. Just want to bring a slightly different perspective to the thread.

Fat man who clubbed nobodies in four rounders verses one of the most well regarded and prolific KO artists in boxing history? Sigh....... Galento would have wiped the floor with baldiebean

I wish Butterbean would have fought James Thunder and Gerry Cooney

I would venture to say that Big George, today (July, 2022) can still hit harder than Butterbean ever did. (IMHO, of course).
