Bigger man doesn't always win though. Look at what Dempsey did to Willard who was the much bigger man in height, weight, and reach and also had a proven Chin. It was total destruction. Same for what Baer did to Carnera.
Tyson did ok against some big Heavyweights as well granted his competition was mediocre to poor as well. But it still shows size alone doesn't matter. Too many variables. Guys like Marciano and Dempsey would be Cruiserweights today anyway so why not compare them to those guys?
What was considered fast in Dempsey's time would be considered slow today. Let me put it this way: In the 1924 Olympics, the gold medal time for the Men's Marathon was 2:41:22.6. That time wouldn't have made the top 100 rankings in the 2016 Olympics.
