:rofl Im sorry I didnt realize this forum was held in such high regard. Do you have a life outside of it?

How is dropping your hands to your waste and swinging thunder blows at a guys unprotected down, textbook?

Can you seriously watch guys like Sweet Pea, Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather ect and not think they wouldnt totally dominate in the 30's, 40's and 50's simply by watching black and white film?

They can't be helped. They assume because they've seen some Youtube footage of Harry Greb sparring that they understand everything there is to know about old school fighters, even more than a guy who has seen more fights and analyzed more footage than they even knew existed. Typical General Forum, what can you do?

I started this thread and I've loved reading the debate. I listened to the other side and I respect the opinions presented, but I agree with this chap. Imagine the athleticism and modern technical skills of Whitaker or Jones Jr, or the poise and power of Lennox Lewis or Manny Pacquiao against the greatest 30s/40s/50s fighters, it would be a mismatch if possible in reality. And to the morons who commented about older footballers like Pele and Best being better than the current best- don't embarrass yourselves by replying again, the very notion is utterly ludicrous if you've ever watched football in your life. Yes, Pele played in a World Cup winning team at 17, but that is ACHIEVEMENT and not ABILITY. Don't you understand the difference? Pele and co may have achieved amazing things in their time, but the sport has advanced so much that they could not handle the modern game at all. Think of the world-wide sensation that was the 'Cruyff turn' in the 1970s?!? ie a ****ing swift change of direction. WOW! Have u seen what Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo or Zinedine Zidane can do with a ball now? Of course Messi has not won World Cups etc yet, but what the **** has that got to do with the fact he would run rings around a far less fit, far less technically able but highly decorated 50s/60s/70s footballer?? Sober up guys. Think about it.

This guy is truly beyond stupidity.

Maradona was still performing to a high level at the start of World Cup 1994 my friend, not exactly the past greats we are talking about- havent you seen the decades 30s, 40s and 50s mentioned??

If we go by your rather witty post, then Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins are the 'old legends' referred to in the title of my post, as they fought for a world title in 1993.

You only just posted that, can probably still delete it.

Whitaker's prime was 15-20 years ago, do you feel that he's primitive compared to fighters of today as well? How about the Ali's, Leonard's, Hagler's, etcs? If you don't feel that fighters from 30-40 years ago were primitive, then why fighters just 10 or so years prior to that, considering boxing technique has not improved since around the 40's?
