It's funny when you think a guy like Joe Frazier was considered a heavyweight, a "big guy" 5'10" 207lbs, if you put him in a high school gym today with a bunch of 16 year old boys he'd be one of the smallest guys in there Makes you wonder what will heavyweights be like in 50 years, probably Fury will seem like not a big guy looking back
What shithousery is this? Stating the obvious and sprinkling it with some delusion? What the **** are they putting in the water where you live to make 200lb muscular 16 year olds? Joe Frazier was never considered a big heavyweight. Are you new to the sport? Yeah soon the average height of the human will be at least 15ft. Has to be.
This. There was always plenty of big heavyweights in the past and 200lbs in tip top shape isn’t small. Frazier was always a short heavyweight even back in his day. Fuhgettibout the exact prime weight & height of Frazier (you are close). Do you really believe the average 16 year olf boy is this size, let alone what you imply, much bigger? This is vastly overstated, mostly with weight, & more so if you calculated lean body mass. Frazier would be a little taller than average, & much heavier & stronger than the average 16 year old boy. Your point that most old school HWs were small (compared to those today), is absolutely true. But like so many, you erode your credibility & arguments when you are this innacurate-& folks will wonder if you are being honest. You can Google something like this, & even with the epidemic of obesity, the average 16 year old bot is not near that weight! And he would have way less muscle than Frazier, especially in the lower body.
Frazier would still be a viscous, mauling, brawling handful for today's Giants and would undoubtedly make his mark. He was always a special talent and with his bobbing and weaving, inside fighting skills and that leaping left hook, plus his naturally high level of stamina and fitness, sprinkled with a undeniable will to win and a truck load of tenacity. He would give any fighter in history an incredibly tough night on his day. Fraziers ferocity and street attitude would have today's 200lb 16yr old PED heads shitting a brick.
I watched a slow ass George Foreman stand stock still in the center of the ring and drop Frazier over and over again with single shots as Frazier tried to get close, it resembled Herbie Hide Vs vitali and was kind of embarrassing "here comes Frazier, DOWN HE GOES..AGAIN" I shudder to think what today's super heavyweights would do to little joe, his tenacity would get him killed You can't "maul" men 50lbs bigger, that'd be like a 12 year old child mauling a fully grown, strong man
I think perhaps the OP was using "16 year old" analogy as a way of exaggerating a little to make his point clearly. A point which is a true one. Many of the heavyweights of Fraziers generation would be small HW's now, and many could easily make cruiser. The forum seems a bit screechingly autistic at the moment. I'm putting it down to people being locked in. Let's all hope that 'navigator' doesn't wheel in and splice together a thousand posts and write an entire essay about how Frazier was actually large.
I did say high school gym class I did some of my training at a high school and most of them were over 6'0" and many over 200lbs and they had growth left in them. Frazier was pretty small, under 6'0" is short today, I don't believe these "averages" that the average make height is 5'9" or whatever, go to any nightclub and see how true that is
And that's EXACTLY the response I was expecting from you. Several points to consider. The Frazier that got smashed by Foreman was far from his best, going in with arguably the hardest hitting Heavyweight in history. Frazier indeed was up and down like a yo yo. Most of today's heavyweights would have stayed down after the first knockdown. I'll see if I can find it later but, there's footage of Foreman hitting an old school, sand filled heavy bag prior to The Rumble in the Jungle and it's a frightening watch. He leaves a dent in the heavy bag you could comfortably fit your head in.
Listen, go to your local boxing gym, find a heavyweight who is 7-8" taller than you, and 50lb heavier, and try and maul him Report back your findings
There was 15lbs between Foreman and Frazier. Foreman and Ali are the same height. The biggest man Frazier fought was Buster Mathis and he did exactly what you said he can't.
