    I don't think Marciano couldn't beat any fighter Lewis size, just not Lewis himself because of the attributes plus size that Lewis would bring to the table.

    Ahem. The practitioners of Pankration weren't just boxers, they were essentially MMA artists and some of them were legendary. You're essentially talking about boxing vs MMA, and, well, it often doesn't turn out great for the boxer.

    I read that in a martial arts tournament in Japan, they had open weight classes where any fighter of any size could compete. The welterweight champion could fight the heavyweight champion. And this is full contact fighting. I know in martial arts, there are some martial arts that can virtually nullify size. In boxing, you can nullify size, but only up to an extent.

    For instance, we all would say pound for pound, Mayweather >>>>> Lyle. But Floyd Mayweather would be in serious danger if he had to share a ring with Ron Lyle. At 147 pounds, he'd be too small for 220 pound Lyle. If Maywaether was say 187 or 197, that may be enough size where skill could compensate for the rest. For instance, I'd pick a 194 pound Walcott to beat a 220 pound Lyle.

    Or when Ray Robinson's manager suggested a possible fight with Ezzard Charles. Great as Ray Robinson was, his response was "You ****ing fight him".

    I could see an argument for abolishing the cruiser class, but I don't know about open weight classes.

    But bring those same attributes and put into a fighter the same size as Marciano and Rocky would knock him out IMO.

    Pretty sure you're talking about the Pride organization, that used to run open weight tournaments. They haven't existed for several years...

    In Rocky's case I think it would be size, speed ,lack of defence,tendency to cut.

    Well no just like he wouldn't be Rocky if he fought Lewis because he would have to be a fighter in a different weight division.

    Well, the best MMA fighter of all time (arguably) is Fedor, and he'd weigh about 210 if he were as ripped as Ken Norton.
