We're talking perceptions here, not necessarily reality. I remember each as they rose to the top, and a convincing argument could be made for either. Both were seen as unbeatable. But as to which one appeared to me the more dangerous at their peak, I would have to pick Tyson. As fearsome as Foreman was, there were questions about his endurance as he went into the Ali fight. Still, he was heavily favored although there was some uncertainty that he would defeat Ali.. Foreman's punches were more like a wrecking ball whereas Tyson's were shorter, quicker, and more explosive. When he fought Buster Douglas, I didn't even bother to set up my VCR to tape the fight as I felt Douglas had no chance whatsoever. And there was nobody on the horizon who figured to give Iron Mike any trouble for a long time. I did not see the Douglas fight as it happened and was flabbergasted when I saw the headline the next morning.

All that said, looking back with hindsight, I would pick peak Foreman over peak Tyson. In fact, had old George been matched with the diminished Tyson of the '90s I woud pick old George. George had a better career overall. But my perception of who was more dangerous at their peaks at the time of their peaks would be Tyson.

Yes my friend, Mikey too lacked stamina, otherwise he would have beaten James Buster Douglas. But if a man is dependent on an old man like Cus D Amato or Kevin Rooney, that is called co dependence, part of a mental illness. There is no excuse for a loss like that. But as I say, to each their own.

It would be hard to choose between them. They were both terrors in the ring. We saw grown men trained to fight run from them at times. You know many thought about maybe running for an instant.

Funny enough, you use this argument only for fighters you like watching. Do you really believe that someone like Max Schmeling lacked fundamentals?

You're right and I apologize for implying the negative things about you. I was being presumptuous.
