    What I find so interesting about the fight is that Lewis broke the trend of the young up and coming fighter defeating the former king of the heavyweight division (e.g Marciano-Louis, Holmes-Ali, Tyson-Holmes etc.) so for such a feat he should be praised.

    When you read a thread like this it makes you question how the human race has gotten to where it has.

    Because his mind and body were telling him it's time to go.A better heavyweight than him(and there's not that many) didn't listen to his mind and body as did several other supremely talented legends and ignoring the signals didn't do them any good.
    And the thing people need to get through their heads;
    Vitali just wasn't that important at the time.:conf

    I don't know every detail but if you win a fight that you were losing on the cards with a controversial stoppage that has the fans howling and you are the biggest boxing star in the world, or one of them, and you choose not to rematch, people are going to ask questions.

    Why isn't Lewis held to the same standards as everyone else is? Right now, if Vitali won in the same way, and then retired, he would get slammed on here.

    For all we know, a more well prepared Lewis, even at that age, may have done better in a rematch, the point is, he didn't try.

    The fans wanted the fight.
    Lewis
    didn't
    try.

    nothing could be further from the truth, loads of big punchers have come from behind to stop opponents and questions were not asked of them. Nearly all the big punching champs at HW did at some point.

    And of course Lewis isnt going to try again at 38. Theres a point for everyone at which you either the flesh has become too weak (Lewis) or, you start picking **** opponents (Klitman's approach).

    Lewis is not a complete moron.

    He knew that Vitaly was one of the best (if not the best) opponents he had ever met... so of course he would be well prepared.

    Vitaly still showed that he was clearly the best on the night (no matter who got the official decision on an injury).
