Jersey Joe Walcott was like 37 when he won the title.

 

Nate Campbell…was 36

 

Likely Liston, but we aren't fully aware of what age he was when he won the title. If we go by what his sister said, he was 43 when he won the Heavyweight Championship.

 

His sister said he was 43 when he won the title????

 

She said that he was born after the first World War in 1919, and I'm pretty sure this was confirmed through further researches in a specific book about Liston. I can't exactly recall the book so I could be wrong.

 

If it's Paul Gallender's book, take it with a grain of salt.

Goddard was 39 when he won his belt against Denver Ed Smith.

I love Jersey Joe! I was wondering when someone would bring him up. Worked by day, fought by night, and was able to become champion all the while supporting a full family.
