How would he do against Weaver, Coetzee, Page, Witherspoon, Tucker, Smith, Tate, Berbick, Thomas?

Win some, lose some. Overall he would be on par with said group.

His toughness, punching power and deadly left hook would make him formidable in any era. But his tendency to be inconsistent and occasionally lose to lesser men would prevent him from being a standout man. So in many ways, he'd fit right into that 80's scene. I can see him beating Greg Page, John Tate and maybe one of the others when they're having an off night. Witherspoon, Thomas, Tucker and Weaver are guys I'd always have to favor over him.

I'd say hes very much on par with Berbick, Smith, Coetzee, Page, Weaver and Tate, I think he'd win some lose, lose some against the bunch. I'd strongly favor Tucker, Thomas, Witherspoon or Dokes against him, though he'd have a good chance against any of them should they have off nights.

Tucker, Smith, Witherspoon, Mike White, McCall beat him
Norris gives him a tough fight, win or lose
    Page could go either way.
Collier, Tubbs, Douglas, Wills, Mike Williams, Broad, Tillis, Pinklon Thomas, Jesse Fergusson, Bey, Berbick, Carl Williams IDK
Maskaev beats or stops Dokes , Tate and probably Coetzee, Weaver and Snipes too.

I think he'd lose more than he'd win, to be honest. Then again, a good chin and punch goes a long way in the heavyweight division.

Oleg was good. Makes you think what was around just ten years ago.

Not a big fan of Maskaev. Maybe it's the 1st round KO from a McCall jab that did it. WHo knows. I just don't see the guy doing much in the 80's. I think he'd be matched up with a Frank Bruno and get bombed out in 2.

Well, Maskaev was always very slow, had glass jaw and that's true. Hovewer, he managed to KO Hasim Rahman two times, and scored few more decent wins over Derrick Jefferson, Samil Sam and Alex Stewart.

He had decent skills and defense, and he could hit hard. I think he's an overachiever and could compete well against some of 80's underachievers, most of whom were more talented and faster.

Oleg's career was terribly mismanaged. He should never have been put in against McCall so early in his career or Tua. Even his pro debut was against an Amateur legend. The guy was thrown to the wolves. Basically had to adjust to the pro game in deep waters. He wasn't great but he definitely could of competed and won quite a few of those matches against the talent of the early 80s. Win some lose some like most of the 80s fighters did outside of the top level Holmes.

    • They all eventually...some sooner than later...knock him the smack out. Maskaev was able to twice take Rahman, but these from the 80's would find that glass chin of his.
