He will make much more than 40k against Arreola. HBO has bought the fight he will most likely make in the 400k-500k range. Hell I think McCline got 400k for fighting Arreola and he was inactive and basically retired.

Winner is Mandatory for Vitali Klitschko and would stand to make a 3 million or more payday against him.

oleg is a bit long in the tooth
arreola, while not much in the way of physique, will probably manage to pull it off

ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THESE FIGURES?!

I can't believe that a second division fight such as CA v OM can command purses of this size?

If you're anywhere near right, I'm getting down the gym first thing in the morning!

He speaks truth. I estimate roughly the same figures as he did. Maybe slightly less.

Thanks for the info. I knew that he invested well, I just didn't know the specifics.

This is basically another showcase for Arreola.

Oleg has the name and "former champ" title... but he's looking pretty old & shot.

    Arreola TKO 6

Weird, did the International Court ruling towards Vitali completelly left him off the mandatory against Maskaev?
It seemed it was only postponed.

If so, then the fight against Arreola makes sense.

If not, then Goossen found a way to pay Maskaev as much money as he would get against Vitali, otherwise there is not way Rappaport would let this matchup happen. It's pretty obvious that Maskaev is still in it for the money only.

I'm guessing a Vitali vs Maskaev fight would be worth close to 10 mil., Maskaev would probably get about 30% of that, so he is entitled to 3 mil.. Vitali is probably paying some of that ammount to get rid of that fight, the rest Goosen will probably divide between this fight and the next title bout against Vitali, when he will raise the money to compensate Maskaev for stepping out of the way.l

I think Arreola will overpower Maskaev and knock him out. Arreola is very strong physically and with his mauling style, I see him battering Maskaev a bit before stopping him.

Maskaev has slowed down tremendously. He has power, but his body seems to be broken a bit, he has been fighting a long time after all. His hand and footspeed are also completely shot

Maskaev fought a 21-0 prospect in his pro debut and won, and then fought Oliver McCall in about his 7th pro fight. I don't understand how he was thrown to the lions in his career so early, but he made up later in his career by becoming a world HW champ.

Agreed. But he does not have a big name either and he is an uncharasmatic Russian. So, I doubt a lot of people will be interested as it is quite obvious ill overpower the shot and glas chinned Oleg. .

I think we'll see this fight called off, and Vitali will make Arreola a much better offer, now that Vitali needs a fight in Sept.

Maskaev is ****ing ancient, he fights like he is bathing in quicksand. It's almost cruel to put the old man in with a young big puncher. I hope as one poster suggested that Oleg is replaced by Vitali.
