    Round 3

Maskaev is hurt by a Williams rush as he turns to the left a little to sharply and "tweaks" his hip, grimacing he jabs, but the sudden exertion causes him to fart. Williams, momentarily embarrassed for him takes a step back and says "IN MY DAY WE WERE ALLOWED TO EAT SWEETIES IN TRAINING."

Maskaev offers to tap gloves, but Williams doesn't understand and when he turns and asks his corner what is happening Maskaev says something in Russian and Williams inexplicably and suddenly lunges at him. Maskaev steps in under the wide punch and swiftly counters with a clinch. They are separated by the referee and jab at each other, both look tired. After clinching twice more, Williams is showing signs of distress, but Maskaev sees someone he knows in the audience and misses a chance for a stoppage.

    9-9

    Round 3

Maskaev is sticking the jab into Williams' face while bending forward and presenting himself as a decoy target and then standing upright and stepping aside. Williams repeatedly takes the bait, chopping in with the right hand and missing, getting jabbed in the face. Maskaev runs out of wind and stands on the outside, loitering. Williams leads with a left hook and connects obliquely on Maskaev's chin. Clinch. Left jab by Williams. Maskaev circles away tossing a short right porch-swing uppercut from behind his ribcage. Left jabs traded at mid-range. Williams flips a jab from the hip up over Maskaev's shoulder.

10-9 Maskaev but the closest yet, case for going to Williams in the last minute.

    30-27 Maskaev

    Round 4

After coming out from their respective corners, both men take a well earned rest, leaning on the ropes. Williams points out a bird that has become trapped in the auditorium and Maskaev opines that they should "get a broom or something." Williams holds. After holding, being seperated and holding, Williams appears to be hurt by a Maskaev barbed comment about putting away a lump sum for retirement. He counters with muttered platitudes about the conduct of Russian in WWII. Maskaev jabs clinches and lands a combination clinch that leaves Williams tottering on tired legs. His trunks have also slipped to the bottom of his withered buttocks and the referee has to pull them up. Williams asks "HAVE YOU SEEN MY DAUGHTER SHE WAS JUST HERE" and the referee waves them in. Williams lands a right to Maskaev's body and a clinch. One of the card girls tries to get them to come out of the ring, coaxing them down, visibly upset. Maskaev bellows and misses a jab.

Maskaev is throwing the 1-2 over and over insistently past Williams' jab. Williams is hurt and backing into the ropes, briefly. Maskaev runs in with the 1-2 but Williams is able to wriggle off the ropes and jab his way to safety. Long clinch. Break. Left hook to the body by Williams, just a very light tap. Stiff jab by Maskaev hopping into a corner, luring Williams in. Clubbing right by Williams. Counter 1-2 by Maskaev. Williams may have been stunned there, but he keeps pressing into Maskaev. Right hand to the gut, followed by a hard left jab on the other side by Maskaev as Williams comes in with guard raised up. Continuous straight to the body by Maskaev backing up. Left hook up top. Right and left uppercuts by Williams walking forward, missing as Maskaev circles in a light trot. Overhand right by Williams, deflected off Maskaev's outstretched left jab.

    10-9 Maskaev

The action did pick up in the fourth, in fairness.

    Both put in real effort.
