Fedor "The Knockout Man" Papazov has only lived up to his name in 9 of 13 outings.

He will have a difficult time increasing that rate as Escobar is a tough Argentine high-level journeyman, stopped only thrice in nearly fifty bouts (one a corner retirement, another to a big young puncher in Gomez) and he recently scored an upset KO in a rematch with V-Mart Rodriguez after Broner had softened Rodriguez up for him. :bbb

 

Round 1

Papazov is jabbing hard into Escobar's guard. Escobar ducks and sways to either side while backing up into the ropes. Combination by Papazov to keep Escober pinned for a few moments. Jabs and crosses by Papazov, seeking an open spot through Escobar's guard. A few light counter jabs by Escobar, not taking many chances and quickly shelling any time Papazov is actively throwing.

Round 2

Papazov is working his way around Escobar, making half-moons with short little steps while throwing high left hooks and low right uppercuts, trying to weaken Escobar's defenses somewhere or another. Escobar stays responsible on D, arms tight against his face and elbows dropping where they need to be when Papazov unloads with his powerful but not especially fast attacks. HUGE CHOPPING LEFT HOOK BY PAPAZOV as Escobar took a rare chance stepping in with a 1-2. Escobar's neck whipped around but he recovered instantly and went back in his shell.

Round 3

Papazov is circling right and reaching with his jab. Escobar leans to his left and times Papazov with a counter jab on the chin, scoring cleanly. Escobar is stepping forward with goalposts up, trading face-pecking jabs with Papazov, fencing at close range as both switch between jabbing and blocking taking care not to leave too wide a gap between activities. Left hooks to the body by Escobar. Papazov is backed up after trying to hook with Escobar but finding most of his headhunting spoiled by Escobar flipping both arms up, bent, like chicken wings to deflect the hooks. More slapping body shots by Escobar. Leaping hook by Papazov, blocked. Body shots by Escobar backing Papazov up. Chopping counter left hook on the jaw by Papazov, but Escobar shakes it off and keeps moving forward.

Round 4

Papazov is throwing big left hooks coming up off the canvas, pushing off the balls of his feet, then following up with hard straight rights. Escobar switches his stance between peekaboo and the low-left, right cradled at his side and upper body twisted facing away. Escobar catches some punches and lands some counter jabs to Papazov's chin and stomach, lightly. The heavy stuff is coming from Papazov, albeit much of it blocked or slipped.

Round 5

Papazov is windmilling the left hand, slashing down at Escobar with maximum force as he walks forward. Escobar is leaning clear of it and countering with light hooks on the body, perhaps in the hopes of accumulating damage and taking Papazov's wind over the long haul, death by a thousand cuts instead of a fell stroke like Papazov is going for. Papazov is seriously loading up on everything and could be in danger of gassing. Er, nevermind. HUGE combination - light set-up jab, right cross, ENORMOUS left hook. Escobar flat on his butt. He beats the count, dazed. Papazov rushes in, tossing left and right uppercuts. Escobar shells up. Escobar bravely tosses an overhand right to fight his way off the ropes and is left open for a HUGE Papazov left hook.
