After talk of Peter, Barrett and Briggs they've brought in a shot journeyman. If Maskaev doesn't win this comfortably he may as well retire there and then. This comeback is a joke anyway.
Beck may be one of the few heavies with some name recognition that this version of Maskaev could beat. There was no way he was going to face Peter on that date.
LOL I love how they went down the ladder of bummishness 1. Peter... Okay, beaten a couple times, but still a credible opponent for a comeback 2. Barrett... Brutally KO'd by Cameron it hurt just watching 3. Briggs.. ultra shot roidhead who got beaten to bloody pieces by Vitali and who do they get? Owen 'what the ****' Beck!!! Lost his last 10 fights, 8 out of 10 by KO :deal
Next up Danny Williams and Rahman, before retiring again and boasting that he beat a former lineal champ and two title challengers on his comeback
Well Owen has only lost 8 fights in a row. 6 of them brutal Ko´s. Sure hope he can win this one somehow..
I wouldn't be suprprised at all if we are lucky enough to see Maskaev-Rahman 3. I could also see Roy Jones going over to Russia sometime in the future to face Maskaev. This is going to be a pretty exciting comeback for the Big O.
I would so love it if Beck packs out a lucky punch and shatters Maskaev's glass chin in front of his Champagne sipping Russian billionaire crowd.
I would agree. I know there have always been heavyweights(and fighters in general) that hang around way too long. But this current crop of heavyweight seniors seems to be one of the largest I can remember.
I liked Maskaev for the short time he reigned for the guy was a very good boxer but he had bad survival instincts and no head movement which resulted in KO losses in fights he was ahead in
Tbh, this is what every comebacking faded old hasbeen should do, fight a couple bums first, get rid of the ring rust, then gradually step up the competition and see how far you can go. Unless you want to end up like Hatton, ofc
