Anyone seen him fight? What kind of skills does he bring? What is his potential?

Platov is a chinny brawler, but a southpaw and in good shape.

I saw his fight with Akinwande...pretty damn bad from both guys really.
Platov could fight in flurries but didn't show me much apart from that.

Tremendous heavy-handed fighter I've seen fight on the undercard of Valuev-Chagaev. He was to fight Evander but thank God he's not, a mountain of a man whose boxing skills are not untested, fought Akinwande and persevered.

Call Akinwande whatever you want, doesn't bother me but he's a world class fighter and a former EBU european and WBO HWT Champion so I sense that mentioning him doesn't affect Platov at all. There are guys and gals who call Ricky an octopus but still he's a "presidential" candidate or am I a lunatic?

Akinwande is talented AND an octopus. He's also totally awkward. There is certainly no shame in looking bad against him; in fact, beating him should be considered as a considerable win, even at this stage in Henry's career.

Platov looks like he could be exciting: heavy handed, chinny (apparently) and with a willingness to brawl. That's the kind of boxer that makes heavyweight fights entertaining. Let's hope we get to see Platov with some top 15 guys in the near future. :good

Akinwande fought better fights in his day than that one, I remember against Alexander Zolkin for the WBO Title. The Disq. vs Lewis was as much Lennox fault but Mills put all the resposability on Henry.

Platov is more dangerous than exciting - he is nº13 by the WBC and nº15 by the IBF. He's a heavy-hitter like Chagaev, just bigger, much bigger, nobody wants to fight him:good

Platov is a Belgium based Ukranian who has fought over 90 % of his fights outside German soil.
He now has a contract with a German promoter.Nevertheless it is quite ridiculous to call him another protected German fighter. He cant even speak German.

As for his skills you are certainly right in saying that he is nothing special. He is no future champ. However,he is good enough to beat some of his fellow fighters at the end of the top 25 list.

He's not the most talented fighter out there, but he has power and is agressive, which makes an interesting fight at least.
