    Yes, I wonder what went wrong there in your opinion? Just not suited to the pro game?

    Mekhontsev was a superb amateur.

    No the video is still there I watched it again yesterday before I wrote my post. Just type the title into Google and it should be the first result. I would've posted the link but it's a video from the Scene so I couldn't.

    I like and rate Gvozdyk and I think he would cause Beterbiev problems with his skills and boxing ability. Problem is Beterbiev's power is such that it doesn't discriminate. Bad chin, good chin, very good chin, if he catches you clean there's a good chance you're getting hurt, KD, or stopped. Trying to navigate through 12 rounds with him without getting clipped is much easier said than done.

    Karpency does have deceptively good power though. He hurt Fonfara a couple of times, rocked Stevenson slightly, IIRC. Or at the least Stevenson definitely felt the weight of one of his shots and you could see by his expression or the look in his eye that he was a bit surprised by the weight of it. And Cleverly said that Karpency was the hardest puncher he fought too albeit that was pre Kovalev.

    Mekhontsev has too much of an amateur style. He shocked us all in the first couple of fights when he was throwing majorly to the body but has gone back to his old ways and isn't looking as good for the pros.

    I wasn't high on Mekhonstev when he turned pro, he like Shiming, abused of the computerized points system.
    I'm not sold on Gvozdyk either, i like the way he throws his straight punches, but that's it.

    What are some of the things that Gvozdyk has to work on? Or are you saying he's the complete fighter ready to take on the absolute best in the division like some are saying?

    IMHO he needs more experience, especially on the inside. And as you will have read some have Q's about the chin.

    However, he's already good enough IMO to give anyone in the division a tough fight.

    Gonzalez is a good fighter, good test for Gvozdyk. He's amassing a nice resume of LHW contenders, Karpency, Chilemba, Gonzalez in less than a year!

    He is. I'll be nervous for Gvozdyk for however long that one lasts.
