He was kinda tall over 6 ft but so is Vanes Martirosyan which is why Canelo will never fight anyone over 5'10". When you see these guys from 154 and above hydrated they are massive. Canelo trains out here near Del Mar, CA and runs on the beach. Dude is like 5'8" man atsch.

When you see these dudes you would understand why they duck and dodge guys to keep their star power.

If ever boxing dies, it will be because of the greed and stupidity of boxing organizations.

Who do you think will replace Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao?

I do not know if there is someone who will reach the level of money they generate, but in terms of talent and popularity, I think the one who will end up on top of current welterweight will be the first in the running to replace them. There is a lot of talent and good fights to be in 147 pounds. Can you explain how you have come in to lead Artur Beterbiev and what is the current situation?

Marc called me one day and asked me if I was available to help with Artur because he would be busy training his other boxers and he wanted Artur has the attention he need. I was in Montreal for two weeks, but I am now back.

Do you also trained his colleague Vislan Dalkhaev? What is your opinion of him?

I worked with the drive Mittes with him but I have not worked extensively with him. He's very energetic air and hear much good about him. I have not seen in sparring or combat.

What is your opinion on Artur Beterbiev?

I love Artur. What I like about him is that despite his long amateur career and success among professionals, it is very open to learn and try new things. It is extremely dedicated to boxing and disciplined. It's really amazing that he has nine fights at this point because I believe that there is no manager in the world that would set a boxer with nine fights against Artur.

Artur is one of the best boxers from rigorous programs of the former Soviet Union. Have you noticed differences in how he trains and fights compared to western boxers?

I noticed a little difficult this Russian style to which I rubbed my home fans. But he adapted his style to professional boxing. Compared to the drive, I saw rather do the things I asked him and he trains very hard. I see him as a man who will go as far as his mind and body allow, and from what I saw, it will go very far.

What can you tell us of his strike force and physical strength in general?

I "Sparre" with all the guys I coached up there about a year. I was sparring very frequently, but I stopped in the last 12 months. I have finally convinced me not to do sparring; 48 years and 15 years after my last fight, I do not believe that exchanging blows with guys like Artur Beterbiev is in my interest.

Where do you see Artur in a year?

I see it is on a fast track to the top. The problem with a guy like Artur is believed that it is easy for him to find opponents because he has only nine fights and not a lot of rounds, but those who know boxing know what discussed and they will never sacrifice their best boxers unless they receive a lot of money. A manager who has a 10-0 boxer would be sacked if he opposed his protege Artur. Because of this, I believe he will soon have some very good competition.

What are your future plans?

I thought that too when I saw the weights. He weighed the least on the night out of all of Kovalev's opponent's whose fight night weights were recorded, too. He was 180.5. Even Ward weighed 186 in his first fight up at 175, which equals Kovalev's third highest recorded ring weight, IIRC.
