No way to see it except for Nail by KO. There's no skill disparity for Jack to bank on (and his defense isn't even infallible against far less skilled operators than Gvozdyk) and his chin will not stand up to Gvodzyk's best shots...but Gvodzyk's can stand up to his, in case he goes kamikaze. I just don't see a path to victory for the Swede...not boxing, nor brawling. He's simply doomed.
Not a whole lot of fighters out there sort of go for broke. Brawling is a hard way to make a boxing career. A guy who reminds me of that style is Shawn Porter. The guy clearly understands his technical limitations. So hes sort of like **** it, let's just go for it. Too many guys just accept a boring UD loss instead of really going for the nuclear option.
Gotta say I can't see Badou pulling that sort of thing, but even if he did I don't think it would be to any significant avail.
Yeah jack is caught between a rock and a hard place here...still I love his commitment, determination and willingness. I would completely discount him but it’s quite the hill. I give it 60/40 Govs and that’s being optimistic. Either way I doubt this forum has many Jack supporters anyway simply based on his promotional backing.....sad and typical but very real and pathetically true. He has my support even if it’s unlikely he wins. I’d like to note I backed big G versus super old man
I’m always annoyed by these comments mainly because he’s alway deemed the underdog in every fight for the last couple of years yet we still gets these posts... lol smh. Oh well it is what it is.
Given a draw in the Stevenson vs. Jack fight, Gvozdyk and Badou Jack should fight each other now. It would make perfect sense. Is Badou Jack fighting Marcus Browne or not, by the way? Because, according to Arum, Gvozdyk might fight in February again. It obviously won't be a unification fight (not enough time for that) so I guess Gvozdyk's opponent will be one of those guys (top LHW, but not champions).
I like Jack's determination, but he'll be outgunned in offense, defense and ring IQ. Still that should be a good title defense. Make it happen!
Jack gets stopped late. Those cute pitty patty punches he likes to throw will get neutralised by The Nail's right hands. Jack is not a world class fighter, he couldn't turn up on an old Stevenson. He isn't beating Gvozdyk.
I've simply never been sold on Badou Jack ever. He's a hard worker and simply was at the right place at the right time against Degale, Bute, Cleverly, and Adonis who I believe 3 of them (not Degale) were all more dynamic fighters than him. Gvozdyk by ko. He's just at a higer level.
Jack got Marcus ''Hit 'Em When They're Down'' Browne problems to deal with first before he steps in there with OG. I got Badou a favourite in that one but he better make sure his ass don't wind up on the canvas at any juncture of the fight, whether it be it from a slip, a tumble, bundled over, or dropped by a punch. Jack's a much better fighter than Browne but Browne's hit 'em when they're down game demands respect.
Both guys like to slowly break down their opponents with pitty pats only Jack's lose stream as the match progresses and his output drops, the matches tighten and what should be a UD ends up a draw. Whereas The Nail slowly amps up his output, varying the power on his shots, as the match progresses and starts sitting down on his shots late, dropping heavy power shots with pinpoint accuracy that his weakened opponent can't defend against and are violently stopped. Although after The Nail feels Jack's limited power, he might go all out and brutalize him and get him out early like he did with Yunieski Gonzalez. No matter what strategy he chooses, he wins by KO.
