Not sure Lapin’s people actually watched tape on Tani. What a terrible style matchup. I think on these big show cards the promoter is less likely to let the fighters pick a favorable opponent tho.

Never been big on Lapin as a Pro. Decent amateur.

    ???
This is extremely difficult to articulate, and I wont even try.
But the short answer would be; he simply does not understand why his opponent is doing what they are doing, and this means that he is unable to respond accordingly.
And this applies to himself too. He is the type of boxer to use feints because he knows he should, but he doesn´t necessarily understand what exactly he is doing it for.

Edit: In chess you always have to think ahead on what your next moves are, and how the opponent will respond to them. Lapin is the type of guy who in boxing terms is unable to do this.

    This.
Usyk undoubtedly had to have known that this would happen eventually.

This makes sense. It seems like he's one of those cases of a guy with tremendous physical gifts but isn't able to piece them together. When I watched him in interviews he always struck me as someone who still felt a little bit too childish. Not serious. Taking things for granted. Couldn't articulate how his next fight would fit into the bigger picture of his career progression. A shame as he really had tremendous raw potential.

he was hired to lose. Instead he trained his ass off I assume, showed up and stopped Lapin. You can understand his excitement. Biggest win of his career so far.

Tani has a lovely economy of punch.

He is obviously very happy with the win.
The help French's boxers receive is miserable despite a quite large pool of talent.
It's his occasion to shine a little.

    Sounds about right.
Athletically speaking, he is fine. And heck, he even punches harder than his record would suggest. He simply lacks the mental capacity to succeed at any serious level.
And his athletic gifts have brought him further than he would have gotten otherwise. Hes a journeyman level talent with a pretty record.
