Fury could easily win. His dumb showboating helped nothing, and it took him too long to get cranked up. But once he did around round 4, I was thinking he’d win. He was looking great, far better than he had in years, causing Usyk all kinds of problems. Then Usyk cracked him good and took over the fight.

A consistent issue I kept noticing with Usyk was dealing with the difference in reach. He kept throwing and hitting air either because Fury pulled back, or because Fury was too far away to hit. If they have a rematch, Usyk needs some tall AF sparring partners to practice jabbing with.

Fury only has so many many weapons in his arsenal

Once he revealed his hand and showed all of his weaponary, Usyk figured out a way and stepped up a level

I think most of us lost our hope and accepted the loss during rounds 4 - 6.

Pretty much. "I guess he really is just too big. Too big and too good." Then Usyk had a better 7th and an excellent 8th, but I was still worried.
I was jumping up and down in the 9th. I shadow boxed like an idiot . Absolute emotional roller coaster.

Usyk out landed Fury 18 to 10 in punches landed in round 12 including having a 14-7 edge in power punches landed.

Competitive but clear round for Usyk to me.

And your point is? Fury was out on his feet and saved by the bell in the 9th.

Once again, a reminder not to trust what Fury says.

    Really interesting stuff.

By that, on no metric besides "thrown" does Fury win more than 3 rounds.

I'd give him 4 or 5, 6 at absolute most... But it's interesting - I wonder if a decent number of the guys scoring for Fury were bamboozled by him throwing more that didn't land (or hit glove).

    Housekeeping notes:

Numbers subject to some bilateral fluctuation over time due to necro-bumps and deletions by moderators/admins. For older entries, I've left the reply count of record as what it was as of when they entered the archive.

Salmon colored entries are @CST80 RBR™; Turquoise colored entries are IB RBR©.

Italicized entries are new since my last archive update nearly a half-decade ago (June 2nd, 2019).

    Fighter data extrapolation:

Usyk and Joshua reign as the new kings of impression & engagement generation. Previously it had been Mayweather and Pacquiao, with Saúl Álvarez straddling both tandems' eras as chief runner-up.

The Cat not only holds the highest position as the main event winner of the all time most interacted with RBR thread of all time, he also thrice headlined entries that are top 5 (and five that are top 50, all of them in fact top 25).

AJ is right behind him, occupying slots #2-4, #8-9, #14, #26, and #28-29 for a total of nine top fifty entries. Until yesterday all three of the most replied to RBR threads of all time had Joshua in their main event (Wallin, Usyk I & II).

Canelo has 7 top fifty entries.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has 6, as does Tyson Fury (including being Usyk's dance partner at the very top).

Manny Pacquiao, Dereck Chisora, Vasyl Lomachenko, Miguel Cotto, Sergey Kovalev, and Joseph Parker all have 3. So does Deontay Wilder, albeit all of them opposite the higher draw of Fury.

Francis Ngannou shockingly has two entries that are top 25, despite being 0-2 in pro boxing. So too do GGG, Povetkin, JMM, Ruiz, Haney, Whyte, and Danny García.

    :ciao:

Then why was Usyk at the presser afterwards talking. Damn you trolling intentionally or do you just swallow everything Furys camp offers, as true?
