Oleksandr Spyrko is a 25 year old 5'11.5 Junior Middleweight with a 17-0 9 KO's record. I can't find very much info on this Donetsk born kid but I saw him in the rankings and looked him up a few months ago and he impressed me. He has a compact explosive style, has brutal right and left hooks, he reminds me of a very unskilled rough version of Canelo. He got dropped by Saidi which concerns me but there was a slight push involved, he needs to tighten up his defense quite a bit. His punches look vicious and he has some very impressive looking knockdowns. This kid looks like he has potential to be an exciting and due to his fresh faced looks easily marketable fan friendly fighter as long as he doesn't screw up.
With a good trainer he could become a real force.:toney:toney:toney:toney

Kinda early days yet for this kid, but having been a unified World Youth Champion (WBC, IBF and er IBO) does suggest some significant potential - though each title he won was vacant at the time, reducing their lustre somewhat.

Still - could be one to keep an eye on, but I woulda said he should have progressed further after 6 years as a pro. The WBO International title could bring him a little closer to a significant fight however.

Jr Middleweight is pretty weak if Cotto and Canelo head north, and Mayweather stops at 147 so has a chance of cracking the top 10.

He already has, he's number 6 on the WBO rankings, way too early IMO, that's why I looked him up.

Castano, Spyrko, Shelestyuk, Zewski, Rabchenko, Islam, Kavaliauskas some good talent on the way up.

Maybe when I started doing these threads I should have included a CST-O-Meter, to rate my enthusiasm for them, this kid has talent but I made the thread mainly to get him some attention, but I'm not sure if he has the goods or not, he's a crapshoot. But he's entertaining.

Speaking of prospects there was the promising looking Aik Shaknazarian at LWW on the RJJ U/C last night. I picked him out a year or so ago entirely due to his rather bizarre ring moniker, but Aik's actually had something of a breakout year in 2014 and the kid's only 21.

His relatively low KO ratio may also be slightly deceptive - whether due increasing strength or just having more time to break guys down he seems to be getting more KDs and KOs as his level of opposition increases (according to IBs RBR he came within a whisker of stopping Gil last night).

2 years into his pro career and Boxrec has this kid at #17 and he's not lost more than a round or two in any of his fights to date.

http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=624445&cat=boxer (though why boxrec label him him as a 'human' is unclear:lol:)

I had no idea there were so many Russo/Soviet/E.E. prospects entering the pros. Yet Magomedrasul Medzhidov stays amateur.
