The last time Muhammad Ali weighed under 200 for a fight was in July of 1962. That being said, Ali went up and down the scale quite a bit pre-banishment. He weighed as much as 214 1/2 for his first fight with George Chuvalo and as little as 201 1/2 for his second bout with Henry Cooper.

Assuming that the Ali of the Cooper fight could lose another pound a half healthily, How would a bout between a May 1966 Ali and a unified cruiserweight champion Usyk have gone down.

After recently watching videos of Ali dancing and moving against Folley, Williams and others l have a hard time finding a way for Usyk to win. Usyk has intelligent movement and uses fantastic angles but he is slow and lumbering compared to 1960s Ali. I have Ali by relatively comfortable decision whether the fight is 12 or 15 rounds.

I am sure there will be those who disagree and that would be great. I would love to hear the reasoning to see what I might be missing.

FFS why is Usyk so overrated on here?
Ali in his prime would box the head off him

Boxing was an actual A level sport back then with many top athletes

No version of usyk beats a mid 60s Ali, no f....g chance

He doesn't beat the 70s version either

Usyk is the P4P atg it seems despite his best opponents being Joshua and Breidis who would both get slaughtered by actual ATG's.

People in the USSR couldn't even box professionally in the 60s, and the US's athletes would be dwarfed even by Usyk. Claiming that fighters were better in the 60s is just scummy. I have no idea why it's always oldheads who want to make it an era debate when literally all statistics oppose what they claim.

If you had real faith in the fighters being superior you wouldn't have to rely on "this era was stronger" every single time, you could make arguments based on what they actually did in the ring and their attributes.

Watch Ali fights (not highlights) and you will know why he would slap usyk silly

Tony Bellew pushed usyk for crying out loud lol

Although he doesn't beat Ali, he would beat a big fat, bald bum who punches himself in the face

Ali never fought a fighter with Usyk`s handspeed and combos, Usyk was quicker at cruiser.

Usyk is far more skilled than anybody Ali fought and would have toyed with every fighter Ali fought when he weighed 200lbs, Ali wasn`t as good as Usyk at the start of his career and Usyk would have toyed with Cooper.

Usyk as good as he is gets far too much praise on here for his exploits so far at Heavyweight, however he is arguably the greatest Cruiserweight ever. I won’t be drawn into another mythical match up prediction however .

Weighing 200lbs? Would Ali have beaten Foreman, Liston and Frazier weighing 200lbs? Ali nearly got sparked by Cooper who was nowhere near as strong as AJ or Chisora.
