I have to give it a pause and revisit it when the dust settles. They’re probably going to fight again too. It’s very easy to go over the moon now and overrate the significance of this win historically. Regardless he’s surely very high for me, top 15 without question and maybe higher than that.
Top 25 or so if he never wins another fight. Around the same level as Michael Spinks and Gene Tunney on my personal all time list.
He’s up there with other GOAT heavyweights in history I would put him favourite against all but two maybe three Ali, Lewis and Holyfield however it wouldn’t surprise me if he found a way to beat them
If he continues to win in this way within 2 or 3 years he could get the GOAT. He has all. Complete arsenal of blows, highest IQ and footwork, impregnable defence.
Much better. Spinks was a top 3 LH and cleaned out a deeper division at that weight than Usyk cleaned out at cruiser. Plus, Holmes is a better heavyweight win than Fury and AJ.
Spinks was at the end of his career and cashed out against someone who probably wrecks the version of Usyk we saw tonight. If all you've watched of Spinks is that fight, then you shouldn't comment on his worth as an all time great. Spinks at his best was an absolute monster. I'm paying Usyk a compliment by placing him in his company.
Briedis did better than Fury or Joshua against a better version of Usyk. Hunter did better than aj. Usyk was a heavyweight in the ring even then, over 200lb. I think this size stuff is overblown. Always has been
The version of Spinks that kinda bamboozled Holmes the first time around? Who knows? Fact is, Holmes is still a much better scalp at heavyweight than the guys who got splattered by Ngannou and Andy Ruiz respectively. And Spinks was operating well above his best weight when he beat that fighter.
