When the fight happens, it'll be, 'Fury was cornered', 'Fury was forced into facing him', 'Fury had to have his arm twisted', et cetera. Like he couldn't just have put his feet up behind that pledge of retirement he made if he didn't have ambition to meet his chief doubter. He wasn't in Joshua's position, trying to keep the belts unified and obligated to face Usyk in order to do so.

He was talking about Usyk the very day after Usyk-Joshua II. 'B-b-b-but he wants half a billion, though!' Give me a damn break...

It's not that people are too dumb, in a lot of cases, to accurately read between the lines of Fury's more outrageous public utterances (such as the £500,000,000 'demand'). It's that they want to put store in anything that advances a negative appraisal of him, while ignoring and belittling the challenges he has risen to, because they are churlish people who resent his presence, either out of misguided deference to Usyk (in recent history) or else long-running, irrational infuriation and loathing.

They won't just celebrate this momentous bout happening when it's signed in 2023. It will, of course, be a hostile grudge affair for them. Fury emerging triumphant won't be greeted by anything resembling a kudos from these people, it'll just be onto the next doubter they can use as a stick to assail him.

    This seems a pretty standup attitude to me;
There's more integrity in that than the inevitable refusals to grant Fury a humble retraction or admit error when he signs to face Usyk (and defeats him) in 2023.

If he happens to live with his folks (like many adults do these days, for various reasons), or if he's on a third account (like any number of other users), it doesn't seem to me like something to persecute him over.

He's spot on. Fury knows Usyk can out box him. Fury can't rattle him.

Usyk fought in the end of August against AJ.

How honourable is it to challenge a fighter who just came out of a hard battle? Disallowing him to rest, recover and prepare?

Fury is probably more worried about Usyk than anyone else. Whether he's actually scared of the fight, that remains to be seen.
He's definitely not scared of him from a pure fighting point of view but Usyk might have the best chance of taking Fury's 0 on points, so that would scare Fury.
If Fury tries some funny business after Chisora, it will be obvious.
Otherwise it will just be made.
Usyk is doing the right thing baiting him though, as from his point of view Fury could suddenly go fight AJ and mess him around next year.

Agree. I don't think Fury is actually scared of anybody. He might well be apprehensive about the work involved in getting to 100% for Usyk and he might be somewhat concerned about the in-ring skills Usyk has shown. However, I'vs always thought that a 100% fit Fury has the edge on Usyk ... if he could be arsed to get into that sort of shape. If Fury is less than 100% Usyk might make him look foolish.

Anyone can give fighters deadlines they know they wont agree to to make it seem like they want to fight them but wont.

Fury hasn't been hurt in over a year. Whyte barely touched him. Usyk only fought Joshua a few months ago, so there's no way he'd accept a fight in december.

He hasn't fought more than once a year since 2018. He's like 36 now.

Fury is not afraid of Usyk it’s all BS to get Fury mad and generate buzz.

Usyk said he wouldn’t be ready till next year so Fury is fighting Chisora again too stay busy and it’s also a common opponent.
