Oleksandr Usyk: Greatest P4P Fighter Since.........

Why do folks perpetuate this idea that Usyk struggled with Chisora? It was like 9-3 - Usyk started slow, and Del Boy did his usual bull in a china shop that had Usyk on the move, but he dominated the last 9 rounds, was hardly close - and apparently that was a post-flu Usyk too

 

The disrespect to Manny Pacquiao is just ridiculous. Usyk fanboys are getting annoying as hell. Calling him the goat for beating a bodybuilder and Fury isn't smart, a cruiser moving up and becoming undisputed champ is going to happen again because it already has before, and they'll be young enough to stick around

 

I had it 8-4 some had it 7-5 I think he did struggle vs Chisora it certainly wasn't an easy night. I don’t think the decision was in doubt but it was arguably Usyk’s 3rd toughest fight of his career. For example Chisora landed more power punches than Usyk did and landed more punches on Usyk than Joshua did in 2 attempts.

It was a competitive fight vs a bad stylistic matchup. One that the smaller man clearly won. This is boxing, these things happen.
Bellew also gave Usyk a really though time with his counter punching. Yet Usyk KO´d him and moved on to become to undisputed heavyweight champion.
Ffs, Fury had a really though time with Steve Cunningham and relied on cheating to win the fight. Yet he comfortably beat Wladimir at Wlad´s own game(slowed down in the later rounds but the win was in the bag at that point).

Again, this is boxing. Competitive fights happen. Ffs, Bert Cooper nearly decapitated a prime Evander Holyfield.

 

Not convinced he's greater than Crawford.

 

The cherrypicking accussations with regard to Floyd seem silly brecause virtually every fighter misses out on many good opponents for whatever reason. Usyk only fights 1-2 times a year which means a lot of big fights don't happen.
Usyk missed out on Noel Gevor, Lebedev, Lerena, and Cieslak at cruiserweight among others and at heavyweight will probably miss out on Bakole, Kabayel, Zhang, Parker, and many others. Not due to ducking but simply a consequence of fighting so infrequently.

Mayweather was not the recipient of gift decisions with the Castillo fight his only controversial win. So how did he benefit from fighting in is homeland? Many of the people he fought were also Americans.

 

While i hate how Floyd avoided Manny, i do not have a major problem with people ranking Mayweather and Pacquiao higher than Usyk on a P4P list.

However, Crawford absolutely does not rate ahead of Usyk. What are Crawford's best wins? Spence, ok that's an excellent win. What else? Are his wins over Jeff Horn, past it Amir Khan, past it Kell Brook, past it Porter, and Madrimov better than Usyk's two wins over Joshua, a prime dangerous Bredis, Huck, Dubois, Hunter, Fury? No way. Bredis alone is more dangerous than anyone on Crawford's resume except maybe Spence and Madrimov. Not to mention Usyk has overcome big size differences.

I mean Madrimov is arguably Crawford's second best win. No way am i taking his resume over Usyk beating prime Bredis, prime Joshua x 2, a young dangerous lion in Dubois, as well as Fury. I will gladly admit that Bellew and Chisora were past their primes when Usyk beat them but so were Khan, Brook and Porter.

This isn't even close.

 

Crawford is worse on resume but might better h2h.

Canelo is better on resume, but worse h2h.

 

i think when you are comparing fighters across vastly different weight classes, H2H becomes too hard an endeavor. We simply have to look at resume and the demonstrated ability of fighters to overcome size differences.

Craword is the most skilled boxer in the world P4P. I agree. But it isn't enough to overcome Usyk's better resume and a greater demonstrated ability to overcome size differences.

Crawford has been a champion in four divisions, and been “the man” in three of them. That’s enough to match the size difference.

He’s a little behind on resume though and doesn’t really have a super fight out there except Boots.
