He is absolutely brilliant to watch.

Moves like a MW and makes everything look so effortless.

One of the few to make the amateur style watchable in the paid ranks.

His promoter brutally knocks him out. Usyk would even lose in the amateurs to his promoter.

Are you people serious? The hype around Usyk right now kinda reminds me of the hype around Diablo on these forums a while back. Back then, I thought, you people can't be serious, right? Now, Usyk certainly has talent, but I haven't seen anything that would warrant this kind of hype. Usyk moves well and is pretty quick for a CW, but for someone who moves around that much, he doesn't have a great jab. Also, I think he's too upright and not that hard to hit, he doesn't have the reflexes of a prime Ali. And he doesn't hit anywhere near as hard as his 100% KO ratio would imply, he's basically an accumulation puncher. In general, I think he's a bit predictable with the way he lunges in - a good counterpuncher can time those entry points. Basically, Usyk isn't a CW Lomachenko, in my opinion.

You were the guy claiming how Usyk was so easy to hit yesterday. :patsch

I was trying to recall this. Also noticed how you intonated that he is too stiff and upright as well. :rofl

he's definitely one to watch but i'm not on the bandwagon yet. Gassiev has more potential, i think.

I love Usyk, been a fan since the 2008 Olympics. That said, as highly as I think of him, which is very high, Lomachenko is in a class by himself, IMO. The guy is just absolutely freakishly talented.

Usyk's speed of both hand and foot, movement and boxing ability would give a lot of the bigger, slower HWs nightmares. They'd be swiping at thin air all night and look bad doing it.

I've said plenty of times that Usyk has not yet ready for the elite of the cw division.

With that said, his exploits in the amateur ranks definitely captures your imagination, and if he can properly develop, he will be a top p4p talent.

Gold medal aside, the fact that he was beating and sometimes embarrassing TOP SHW amateurs at the WSB is what makes him so fascinating.

I view Usyk as one of these outside fighters who can be timed. I don't see a great jab and I haven't seen anything particularly impressive in the pocket either. He has hand speed but he doesn't hit that hard. At any rate, he hasn't fought anything but stiffs in the pros thus far, so it's hard to say where his ceiling is.
