    Fair play to Big Stevie.
I think these two have boxed before in the amateurs with Usyk winning.

Can only see this fight ending one way but hey, just go for it Simmons.

After the fight, I would like to see Simmons retire. He has been good for Scottish boxing but do I not want to see him getting hurt.

not really life changing money to get the beating of your career! £20k

£2k to coach, £5k to manager, training camp. imo not worth the risk.

big stevie is a great guy and i wish him the best but if the $30k is all he is getting i think he is being sold down the river.

  6. That's mental. Why would you accept $30k?

Can't understand why he has taken the fight. Good luck to him but he's being advised badly.

Usyk on the verge of a world title fight. He will win this easy but at least hes staying active while he closes on on a title shot.

he would get more facing tommy mccarthy as i said which someone wrote off:lol:

he said he was 'moving on to better things' when he gave his reason for not facing mccarthy. i think he has developed paul smith syndrome and wants to be used as a punching bag for good fighters and then call himself world class rather than suffer the shame of losing to domestic rivals anymore

Tough fight and again fair play to another Scottish fighter stepping up! Hope he is being well paid.

Read that Usyk is WBO number 1 so if Simmons beats him he is in line to fight for the world title, plus if he loses to Usyk his stock doesn't really fall. Makes perfect sense - should be well paid and if he were to pull it off he is in the big time.

To fight McCarthy he would have got buttons - nobody has heard of him apart from his cheerleaders on this forum and it would have meant retaining the lightly regarded Celtic title and would not have even seen him move up the domestic rankings!

From what I have heard he has looked better since the ****inson fight although he has not been in with poor opposition and Usyk is a massive step-up.

Good luck Simmons & Brophy!!!! Do Scotland proud.

Couldn't he have got a fight on the Ricky Burns undercard? Surely a standard purse with a few hundred personal ticket sales would have been worth while.

I like this fight, Usky is very decent but Simmons can fight and will cause a few problems, he'll be stopped late but I think his stock could rise. Afterall he will never be a world champ, so why not test himself against the best and see how he does.

he wont cause any problems what so ever, usyk is all wrong for simmons, he is defensively excellent and controls distance. simmons will be lucky to land more than 3 punches a round and will get beaten senseless for as long as the fight goes on

Because he's too good and without a belt. Getting quality opposition to fight him is not so easy. Once Usyk has a belt, he'll be worth a lot more to fight.

Net-net Too high a risk for most, too low of a reward for most.
