If Usyk boxes in the HWs mantaining the same speed of combinations he had in the cruisers he would win.
I don’t see what it is about Usyk that makes people so confident picking him against legit HWs. His major upside at CW was his size and engine, he’s prone to being outboxed early and then outworking and breaking down his opponents down the stretch. HW is a very different dynamic. Ruiz has faster hands, a better, longer jab, better counterpuncher, hits a lot harder. He has much more about him than Breidis who ran Usyk very close. I see him outboxing Usyk and depending on how cagey an affair it is, probably stopping him late.
Usyk has a reach of 78 inches while Ruiz has a reach of 74 inches, if AJ leaves his head on the center line while boxing Usyk he`ll be outboxed and countered well, Usyk has a better team working wityh him than AJ does, they train Loma.
Usyk you has to prove that he belongs at heavy for me to judge him. Beating CWs is one thing but heavies are another. Ruiz might see Usyk as the smaller man and go hard for 12 and Ruiz can go 12 hard rounds. I would pick Ruiz by ko at this point seeing that Usyk isn't a big puncher at all.
Usyk is one of those boxers (few) of which everyone talks well. Technically is very strong in all the departments but its hard to express an opinion without having seen him to fight in the HWs. Will see soon if he can compete with Ruiz, Wilder & Co.
