Round 9 Usyk is surgical but dedicated to harming Venter and not letting him recover. In and out movement and jabs, as before, except now Usyk is putting that extra bit of stiffness on everything. Left hands by Usyk, still carefully ducking and weaving even when on the offensive. Venter is pawing left jabs, starting to look helpless. 1-2-1-2 by Usyk, pushing Venter into the ropes and then snapping his upper body away, neck bent, to slip a counter left jab. BIG COMBO BY USYK. Left and right upper-hooks. Venter sags. That's it! KO9!!!
In-ring Usyk comments: It was a tough opponent. Usyk got carried away a little in couple first rounds. Then he stuck to Bashir's game plan. Everything's fine.
That was an impressive win by Usyk. Stuck with the game plan through the whole fight against a very tough opponent, especially for only his 6th pro fight.
Just followed via the RBR but from what I gathered, Usyk could have walked home but kept turning up his attacks, looking for the stoppage. Nice to see but in this case read about talented fighters that are willing to open up and work on things in a live fight that will pay dividends rather than just coast to a victory.
Can't help it, he's irresistible:rofl http://l.yimg.com/iu/api/res/1.2/_t...Sports/AP_Boxing/201309250828305253190-p5.jpg
Sounds like the perfect matchup for this stage of his development. I can't wait to see the fight once it's posted. I still think Usyk's going to be Heavyweight champion in the post-Wlad era.
