Usyk hasn't got the power to keep Frazier off him.

Doesn't go to the body well

Doesn't loop his punches, straight line which is worse against Joe.

I just think it's wrong to pick Usyk over Smokin Joe. Even if he could beat him.

    Wtf is this thread.

Frazier is all wrong for Usyk. All wrong. He's a better all-round fighter, who is at an immense style advantage. He wins, there's no other correct answer.

But not because Usyk 'isn't tested' at at heavyweight, or 'green'. It's because Frazier is better and at an advantage.

Yeah it's not a good style match up for Usyk. I think Usyk is smart enough to adapt mid fight to make it competitive, for example while he does usually throw straight shots, he showed vs Bellew he can change when he started throwing a left hook to get around Bellew's shoulder roll.

If Usyk is to win, he has too keep Frazier off of him, he isn't going to out work Frazier who can set a hellacious pace for 15 rounds and he's not going to beat him on the inside. As good as Usyk's footwork is, which is some of the best in the game right now, he isn't going to beat Frazier by being on the back foot for 12 rounds, you don't win fights on defence alone and against someone that brings it like Frazier you'll just end up getting outworked if you try.

Usyk doesn't manhandle opponents, clinching them like Ali or mauling and pushing them like Foreman. This was a key skill in both these men beating Frazier. You have to find a way to stop Frazier from throwing and out working you. Ali clinched Frazier to take breaks, Foreman pushed him around forcing him to constantly reset so he couldn't throw. Unless Usyk shows me in a fight he can stifle and opponent or manhandle an opponent like this then I'll favour Frazier to grind him down.

My brother thinks Frazier would find it hard at cruiserweight now with his relative lack of height and supposed lack of elite athleticism.

I would say that no guarantee he even gets licensed today with his eye problems.

Well, having a crooked arm to the point where he can't jab might hinder him more.

Tell you're brother that a boxing writer and historian said he was really wrong. :naughty2: Frazier would have the CW and HW divisions on a leash right now.

I do worry about his size myself and I'm as big a Joe fan as you'll get. I even made him right when he wanted to push Ali into the Olympic flame. :risas3:

Frazier is great for what he did in his era, not cause he'd do great in this era.
    My money's on Usyk.

    50/50 fight imo

Uysk by decision if he manages to maintain a high work rate and keep Frazier at the end of his jab
But all it takes is one well placed left hook from Joe and it's all over for Uysk

Chisora's obviously no Joe but he's a big strong guy who won't be afraid to rough Uysk up so it'll be interesting to see how he deals with that if they ever manage to actually fight.

Frazier wa far better than anyone Usyk has fought and his era had Ali and Foreman in it, not too shabby at all.

I think Chisora will have his moments, but as you say he's no Frazier. He simply won't be able to sustain the work rate required over 12 rounds to upset Usyk.

He'll have rounds where he will have success when he pushes the pace but there will be more rounds where he can't sustain the pace and will get picked apart on the outside. Usyk should win a clear decision.

There have been weak champions in very deep divisions. Boxing politics, opportunism and all that.

I think he may even stop Del. He's suffered a few brutal KOs now. His chin might be lessened to the point where Usyk could now crack it.
