I don’t see how Louis could beat him unless he landed the Perfect punch, Usyk is bigger, has far better footwork, better boxer, Louis would be a sitting duck without even a size advatage +Louis never fought a southpaw to my knowledge.

Yeah, none of that is true.
Louis had great footwork, he was always in position to punch, slip, could fire back while retreating and skip in circular directions while in the pocket.

A quote by Lee Wylie about Joe Louis and Joe Napoles:

"From a technical perspective, their footwork may be without equal. Few have been better at applying pressure whilst remaining balanced, and in position to effectively evade and counter"

The "bad footwork/defense" stuff is a myth

He would get absolutely butchered by Louis, imagine when Louis goes to the body

Louis- one of the most skilled, accurate, tenacious, proven heavyweights of all time

Usyk- one of the most over hyped, least proven heavyweights of all time, beat a way over the hill Fury that was never top tier/atg to begin with, and AJ who is a couple levels below Lennox Lewis

Yes because beating two heavyweights who would make mincemeat of every man Louis beat isn't impressive at all........ Some people here are delusional

That the "I'm not a 12 round fighter" would "butcher" the guys who could go 15 rounds multiple times a year is a claim so big it couldn't go 12 rounds.
Suddenly, Fury goes from the guy who went life and death with a ****ing amateur, whose best win is a 40 year old, who got caught again and again by the least technical heavyweight to step into a ring, into someone who runs through Louis' opposition without a hitch, lmao.

Usyk is far lighter on his feet than Louis, Louis doesn’t have bad footwork, but he is flat footed which makes your attacks more predictable and if Jersey Joe Walcott can bamboozle him with his footwork and movement then Usyk certainly can.

When you can deliver combinations at the speed and with the timing, accuracy and power of Joe Louis, so-called 'predictability' ain't saving your ass!

If you need to bank on a past prime version of Louis for Usyk to stand a chance, it says a lot. And, by the way - that past prime version of Louis still beat Walcott twice.

Not to mention that the Walcott fights weren’t the one-sided drubbings they’re advertised as nowadays. Over a quarter of the newsmen picked Louis, and even those that picked Walcott usually had it 8-7.

A past peak Louis being able to compete with a prime Walcott reflects wel on him, rather than hurts him.

Yes large athletic super heavyweights would have an advantage over past "heavyweights" who are smaller then modern cruiserweights, weight classes exist for a reason in case you didn't know. People here really don't understand how much of a factor size is try sparring someone who weights 20-30 Ibs more then you and see how easy it is.

Usyks cruiserweight opponents are on average bigger than the heavyweights of Louis era so why do people obsess over Fury.

Joshua easily beat Ngannou so how does Fury's Ngannou debacle have any relevance on Usyks win over Joshua

Gassiev, Breidis, Hunter would beat plenty of Louis victims

Usyk weighed over 210lbs in some of his Cruiserweight fights. He didn't gain 20lbs. And again even if he did I still wouldn't engage in an even more hypothetical and fantastical hypothetical fantasy fight in which the non-existent 225lbs Joe Louis is an opponent.

And why are you bringing up Tyson Fury? It's not even Usyk's best performance. What relevance does a 37 year old out of prime Usyk beating the 35 year old out of prime Fury, have to do with a prime Usyk fighting a completely different opponent in a Prime Louis?

I do think people have gone a bit OTT regarding Usyk lately but i would favour Usyk over Louis. From the reports that i've heard Louis apparently got schooled in sparring by a Southpaw Light Heavyweight and then vowed he would never fight a Southpaw.

Overall i think Usyk would be too mobile too tricky for Louis and the Southpaw stance would be a nightmare for him if the reports which i stated earlier are indeed correct.

Usyk is one of the worst matchups for Louis, anytime you conceive a fantasy fight and Louis has a puncher's chance, it just ain't likely.
He had to do such to win against Walcott (soundly) and Conn, and I'd definitely rate Usyk above them.
